A Day in the Life of a Community Services Manager :

As a Liberty Military Housing Community Services Manager, you will be responsible for general oversight of the region's Community Services Program and serves as a Department Head on the regional management team. This role includes leading the Community Services Mission by overseeing the delivery of events and programs for residents that build connections within their community, create memories for the family, and provide rewarding experiences and opportunities. This position is responsible for defining the overall strategic plan and effectively managing to ensure that all Community Services personnel perform quality professional work in a safe manner and deliver on our mission of providing exemplary service in accordance with Liberty Military Housing's quality customer satisfaction standards.

Your Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

- Strategic Planning - develop and lead strategic visions including annual plan and create goals and objectives for the department.

- Training - assess, design, implement, and train team members on all aspects of the event industry standards, event planning process, and other Community Services related items. Responsible for identifying needs, current trends, and participating in industry educational opportunities with the focus of supporting the department's mission statement to achieve resident satisfaction.

- Budget Management - oversee, review, and process assigned accounting and financial matters for the department. (i.e. processing invoices, reviewing and approving IR's and PO's in Payscan, review MEC's/IEC's, Petty Cash, reviewing and approving PAF's, monthly reporting). Create annual budget and individual event budgets and ensure events are fiscally responsible and staying under budget.

- Vendor and Contract Management - create and maintain professional relationships with vendors that adhere to Lincoln's vendor policy and ensures fiscal and risk management guidelines are being followed. Ensuring department is adhering to negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships through strong communication.

- Collaboration - support regional and/or company initiatives through collaborating with internal/external customers to achieve a common goal.

- Event Production - responsible for executing events as needed for the region including but not limited to Event Planning Process, event team coordination, event set-up, day of hosting, event and risk brief, managing logistics throughout the event, and event tear down.

- Marketing - collaborate with National Marketing team to ensure the department is utilizing branding and completing effective and comprehensive marketing plans and materials to market events and programs effectively to residents (i.e. flyers, website content, develop and manage social media, newsletters, banners, posters, email, event photography, event registration management).

- Partnership Coordination- seek, create, and maintain relationships with like-minded organizations to create partnership and sponsorship opportunities that meet the needs of the residents through programing and resident events.

- Administrative Duties - performs various administrative and computer tasks (i.e. phones, filing, record keeping, email communications, input of information/data into various software and information systems).

- Department Engagement - Build, motivate, and inspire a team through developing and implementing team building activities and opportunities for the team to create a culture of positive collaboration to support staying mission focused.

- Public Relations - participate, lead, present both internally and externally at various department or regional meetings, seminars, industry functions, and other work-related functions.

- Office Management - oversee the Community Services office operations, vehicles, storage, supplies, equipment, and building needs.

- Complies with all OSHA safety regulations, local applicable laws regarding health, safety or environment, Fair Housing and LMH Standard Operating Procedures and Policies.

Leadership

- Directly responsible for managing, hiring, scheduling, and developing the Community Services team. Evaluate the efficiency of staff and provide on-going training, coaching, counseling, and supportive leadership. Document and communicate employee situations/concerns with regional management and administer coaching plans and improvement plans as needed.

- Team Member Coaching - conduct one-on-one meetings monthly to coach and mentor team members through their event planning process to ensure expectations are being met through defined goals and support with guidance and decision making as needed.

- Ensure all administrative processes involving personnel are handled effectively and in a timely manner. (i.e. new hire paperwork, performance evaluations, bonus plans, time sheets, etc.)

- Ensure all employees comply with company policies and procedures, and complete required training (i.e. on-line, instructor-lead, etc.) in a timely manner.

- Ensure all work practices of team are in compliance with all OSHA safety regulations, federal, state, and local applicable laws regarding health, safety or environmental, Fair Housing and LMH's standards, policies and procedures.

- Ability to demonstrate skills in customer service, problem-solving, decision-making, multi-tasking, communication, and with high skills in organization and balance.

What You Need for Success:

- Position requires a minimum of 5 years' or more experience in the event industry specifically with planning and coordinating events. Military and children event experience preferred.

- Position requires experience with managing personnel, department expectations, SOP and document management, annual budgets, and experience with developing and leadership training.

- A degree in event planning, recreation, hospitality, business, public relations, marketing, communication, or related field preferred. Certificate in event management is a plus.

- Ability to demonstrate leadership skills and good professional judgement when dealing with difficult situations. Be able to demonstrate leading by example, role modeling good professional behavior using company's core values.

- Ability to demonstrate good balance between professional and personal relationships and matters.

- Ability to represent Lincoln and the Community Services Department professionally and with pride and passion.

- Ability to be self-reliable and take initiative and ownership with assigned tasks and responsibilities.

- Ability to work with regional team and be a team-player on achieving the goals of the region both for employees and residents.

- Experience with and understanding of budgets, proposals, contracts, and negotiation skills.

- Demonstrates solid computer skills. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, a website Content Management System (preferred), Google applications including GMAIL, social media platforms, and graphic software (Adobe, Publisher, Photoshop, and InDesign preferred).

- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays. Must be able to balance personal and professional hours and expectations. Must be able to demonstrate good time management and balance of duties.

- Must be able to demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills including public speaking.
