We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary
Measurement Engineering is responsible for the design and fabrication of all natural gas transmission and distribution measurement and regulator facilities and development of associated measurement procedures and standards.
This Measurement Engineering position is based in the Company's NC Headquarters located in Gastonia, North Carolina.
This position is responsible for:
- Mechanical design of all pipeline facilities containing natural gas meters, regulators, and relief valves including residential, commercial, and industrial meters, distribution stations, transmission stations, and other fabricated piping components and facilities.
- Creation of fabrication grade drawings and cost estimates in partnership with internal drafting support, peer engineers and customer facing sales representatives.
- Evaluation, selection and specification of materials to be used in designs as well as evaluation of material failures.
- Providing support and training to project engineers and field operation employees for proper application of Meter and Regulator Standards, start-up and troubleshooting of new and existing stations, facilities, and equipment.
- Maintain and develop documents for design, procedures, standards, and installation guidance for metering and regulating and other related equipment and facilities.
Candidates will be evaluated based on education, training, and experience in accordance with the matrix of qualifications for each position level as listed below.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Candidates will be considered for employment based upon the following criteria which is specific to the Gas Strategic Business Unit:
o Engineer I: 0 - 2 years of relevant engineering experience
o Engineer II: 3+ years of relevant engineering experience
o Engineer III: 5+ years of relevant engineering experience and holds or previously held a valid US Professional Engineer License
- Demonstrated ability to communicate both orally and in writing in a competent and professional manner.
- Project management experience in the design and construction of pipeline facilities (or other equivalent engineering/construction management or coordination experience).
- Relevant technical and analytical skills necessary to successfully design and construct pipeline facilities.
- Ability to build strong business relationships and collaborate effectively with a variety of employees.
- Proficient computer knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn new computer software/systems.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a diverse team.
- Willingness to travel to work at other Company locations (travel expenses reimbursed).
- A strong desire for continued knowledge and skills development and a willingness to accept future roles of increased responsibility.
- Ability to adhere to safety and environmental policies/procedures.
- Work may be required outside of normal business hours.
Required Engineering Criteria:
- Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
- Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
- Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
- Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience
- Registered as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) within North Carolina, OR , the ability to obtain one of these designations within six months.
- Natural gas utility engineering and/or operations experience.
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements (including but not limited to Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 49 Part 192, Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) regulations, and North Carolina Utilities Commission (NCUC) regulations.
- Advanced computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, Flow Analysis Software, and Synergi Software.
- Bilingual (Spanish) communication skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university is required.
Mechanical or Civil Engineering degrees are preferred.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
Other Working Conditions
The majority of work is performed in an office environment. Occasionally work is performed outside at job sites in varying weather conditions.
Availability to travel to other office locations and job sites across North Carolina is required. 10% - 20% (average one overnight per week)
