Title: (NEX NORFOLK) COMPUTER SALES TECHNICIAN Location: United States-Virginia-Norfolk Job Number: 220004R2 Job Summary : Responsible for installing and selling various types of computer hardware and software; troubleshooting/correcting customers computer problems. Duties and Responsibilities : Installs computer software and hardware such as hard and floppy drives, modems, scanners, CDROM drives, sound cards, memory, etc. into patrons computers. Provides instructions and assists customers with various types of computer problems/questions such as system compatibility, installation, equipment compatibility, IRQ conflicts and DOS and Windows questions. Assists customers in the selection of merchandise relating to computer hardware/software and related merchandise. Advises on new or other items in which customer may be interested. Operates cash register according to established cash control procedures and is responsible for own cash fund. Completes daily cash reports and ensures proper balance. Inspects returned computers and components for proper operation for return to stock and resale. Ensures equipment returns are complete. Displays merchandise in accordance with instructions received, replenishes stock and maintains sales area in a clean and orderly manner. Requisitions merchandise and advises supervisor of slow-moving and damaged items. Assists in taking inventory at required intervals prices merchandise. Carries out policy of courtesy and service. Exercises tact, good manners, and courtesy when serving and assisting customers and fellow associates. Responds to inquiries and provides assistance in a prompt and friendly manner. Performs duties independently, in accordance with prescribed procedures. Refers problems or unusual situations to supervisor for assistance and guidance. Recommend incumbent be A certified by Computer Technology Industry Association. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE 18 months experience in retail sales performing duties that constitute the principal work of the position including installing and selling computer hardware and software modems, scanners, CDROM drives, sound cards, memory, and troubleshooting/correcting customer's computer problems. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE Study completed in a college, university, junior college, technical school or other comparable institution above the high school level may be substituted on the basis of one-half academic year of study for 6 months of experience provided such subjects are computer related. At any level specialized experience may be substituted for required general experience.
