Throughout our 25-year history, Insomniac has produced almost 400 festivals, concerts and club nights for over 4 million attendees in California, Colorado, Florida, Nevada, New York, Texas, Puerto Rico, and the United Kingdom, with expansions into Brazil, Japan, Poland, Korea, China, and India. Insomniac's premier annual event, Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, is the largest multi-day music festival in North America, and attracted more than 400,000 fans over three days in October 2021. The company was founded by Pasquale Rotella, and has been based in Los Angeles since it was formed in 1993.
THE ROLE
The Apparel Group is looking for a passionate, responsible person to lead our festival merchandise as the Senior Merchandiser. This is not a fully remote position and is based out of the apparel group's warehouse studio in downtown Los Angeles.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ownership and management of merchandising for Insomniac festivals, select concerts and partner shows, Insomniac Brand and insomniacshop.com
Create and own overall strategy for assigned product line using inputs from seasonal inspiration, trend, sales history & market research.
Analyze ecommerce and festival performance to strategically build an accurate range plan that optimizes sku efficiency.
Steer alignment with Design and Development to ensure product segment is in line with each brand/festival DNA and competitive set.
Leads process with design, development, e-commerce manager and festival marketing teams to create best-in-class product and manage the merch line through full life cycle
Drive collaboration with cross functional teams to ensure balance of product line needs; identify and create channel-specific product, ensuring product is both brand and market right. Resolve discrepancies should misalignment occur.
Work autonomously to identify opportunities with new and carryover product selection and drive the merchandising matrix. Assist in identifying strategic opportunities for global category growth to meet financial goals.
Ownership for line creation process including calendar (from design to product launch), product price, segmentation, sku count, adoption, and all major meeting agenda inputs and outputs.
Define and maintain seasonal business briefs, timelines from line plan creation to product release and line plan for festival, e-commerce and pop-up store needs. Act as the key facilitator between planning, marketing, product design, and product development.
Lead partnership with Marketing on merch product line introductions to drive highly effective market presentations and holistic stories.
Responsible for alignment with Go To Market process through partnership with Design, Development, Marketing, E-Com and Festival counterparts.
Manage product through the development timeline to assure it is on track to achieve targets and goals for each brief.
Provides strategic guidance to evolve the line architecture to match business growth goals and objectives. Evaluate and build toward opportunities, while maintaining current business. Recommend new and carry/over- and establishes product life cycles.
Facilitate open dialogue with all channel and internal cross-functional partners to intelligently drive merch business.
Shared accountability with development/production team for data accuracy in product information systems.
Develop post event sell-through analysis to inform learnings for future shows merch collections
Manage and keep track of product details in Insomniac systems (style names, colors, sku number, description, style attributes, launch date)
Facilitate open dialogue with all internal cross-functional partners to intelligently drive merch business
Act as the key facilitator between product design and global product development
QUALIFICATIONS
6 + years of buying and merchandising experience
Extensive experience and proven ability to take brands to the next level in the festival merchandise or apparel industries
Demonstrated analytical prowess - with strong Microsoft Office & Google Drive skills to derive data driven recommendations, interpret business case financial modeling and analyze performance
Proven Ability to distill complex and or technical concepts, while providing strategic viewpoints
Preferred experience with Airtable and Asana
Excels in a fast growing and amorphous environment adapting and reprioritizing as needed
Always curious and always learning, positive attitude, responsible approach, and a self starter that's not afraid to dive in and get into the details
Proven ability to interview, hire, develop and grow teams
Proficient in organization and multi-tasking on projects pertaining to numerous shows at once
Ability to identify and solve problems in an efficient manner
Possesses deep passion for music; motivated to learn ins-and-outs of industry
Adheres to all requirements for confidentiality of corporate, strategic information
Must be an active problem solver, instilled with a sense of urgency for projects large and small
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to tolerate loud noise levels & busy environments
May work in drastic temperature climates when traveling to work events
Must be willing to frequently work and travel to events during evening and weekend hours, as required, to meet deadlines and work events
