Purpose of the job:

The Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition (Retail) will be responsible for managing and leading a team of Managers and Recruiters supporting hiring for CEC, MIT, Employment Centers as well as critical field hiring support. In addition, the Senior Manager will play a key role in driving key initiatives in support of our long-term Talent Acquisition strategy.

What you will do - essential responsibilities:

  • Be a critical part of our Field hiring strategy and building a plan to meet current and future talent needs

  • Continually research and develop new, innovative strategies to build a talent pipeline across CarMax stores and CECs

  • Lead a team of managers and recruiters to support the needs of our business and ensure a strong development culture for the team

  • Provide regular business metrics and reporting to communicate staffing efficiency and effectiveness to key stakeholders.

  • Meet with clients regularly to understand their business and strategy to help prioritize sourcing and recruiting workload, and proactively plan for future staffing needs

  • Ensure clients are receiving effective and timely updates, and help recruiters work through any obstacles finding talent

  • Proactively identify process improvements, gain buy-in from peers and leaders on solutions, and drive to completion.

  • Partner with other teams, such as other recruiting teams, marketing, legal, compensation, to ensure our processes and candidate experiences are of high quality - partnering may be on items such as recruiting related materials, offer letters, process, and system improvements

  • Effectively lead and hold direct reports accountable to meet hiring goals and hold a high bar for customer service to our candidates and internal clients

  • Manage engagement and development of the team, including but not limited to providing timely feedback, partnering with associates on development plans, having regular meetings, providing learning opportunities etc)

  • Be responsible for overseeing hiring for other talent acquisition related initiatives and projects as needed.

  • Ability to convey a professional and positive image to applicants and associates

  • Ability to problem solve, comprehend and apply basic analytical skills to complex data sets.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with associates and managers required

  • Demonstrated experience successfully influencing across multiple levels and interacting with senior management required

  • Strategic thinker with strong planning & execution skills.

  • Proficiency with training, mentoring, and developing associates.

  • Ability to lead courageously and make sound independent decisions.

  • Results focused with a high action orientation.

Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the Richmond, VA Home Office and have a Hybrid work arrangement.

Work Authorization: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Experience :

  • 5 years minimum management level experience required

  • Minimum of 5 years' Talent Acquisition experience (directly leading a team of recruiters or owning hiring)

  • Retail talent acquisition experience, preferred

  • Experience building new function/team from ground up or demonstrated experience leading a cross-functional project or initiative required

  • Demonstrated experience of leading a large team or managing the business needs of multiple stakeholders required

  • Demonstrated success leading teams directly or indirectly (associate development, courageous leadership success) required

  • Ability to travel to stores or CEC sites as needed
