JMT Technology Group, a leading geospatial and information technology solutions provider, has an opening for a GIS technician with experience creating and maintaining data using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online. This individual will report to the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania office.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Review and interpret source data files and translate information into GIS format
Use Desktop ESRI apps to edit and maintain vector GIS data in various formats (i.e., file geodatabase, SDE, Portal, shapefile, and published map services)
Perform edits to GIS data in a versioned database (branch and traditional) and reconcile/post edits with the default/parent version resolving possible conflicts
Perform updates to ArcGIS Online/Portal platform applications including Story Maps, Field Maps, Experience Builder, and Survey 123
Follow quality assurance and quality control procedures and provide suggestions for process improvements.
Understand and process data and map requests and produce high quality hard and soft copy map deliverables
Travel to project locations to perform field data collection and verification using GPS and other mobile data collection tools
Assist with testing and deployment of custom GIS applications and tools
Perform tasks under the direction of a project or task manager and regularly report progress on assigned work.
Required Skills
Knowledge of GIS concepts and analytical techniques, including geospatial data creation, conversion, manipulation, and analysis.
Knowledge of cartographic standards and principles to develop high quality cartographic products for internal and external customers.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Ability to plan, organize, and execute GIS-related tasks efficiently while meeting customer requirements
Ability to communicate and work collaboratively and effectively with project team members.
Ability to relate to and work with individuals representing a variety of disciplines, backgrounds, and cultures.
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office 365 Suite
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in geography, GIS, computer science, information technology, engineering, planning, or related field, with relevant coursework in GIS.
Minimum of two years of experience utilizing ESRI's latest suite of technology including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online to create and maintain geospatial data.
An understanding of how ESRI applications and GIS technologies are used to solve client challenges.
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with team members, customers, and consulting partners from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
Preferred Experience
Utilize GIS analysis to support water resource projects.
Utilize GIS tools to support transportation projects.
Experience using Autodesk or MicroStation products.
Knowledge of GPS and mobile technologies for field data collection.
Experience using Python or Model Builder to automate repetitive tasks in ArcGIS Pro.
Experience with Arcade to create or update custom content in ArcGIS applications.
Experience utilizing ArcGIS Portal to edit data and create map content.
Experience creating and publishing map services.
Experience with open-source GIS applications
Exposure to ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Online.
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. Field work may be required to collect or verify existing conditions of data being obtained or maintained.
