JMT is seeking a degreed mechanical engineer with the desire to work within a critical needs, quality driven environment within a growing organization. Working with senior engineering staff from the initial conceptual mechanical design to construction and commissioning of large and small facilities type projects. The Design Engineer will have the opportunity work with a diverse and experienced staff in resolving a variety of complex project requirements with the benefit of an ISO 9001 quality control process. The ideal candidate is an individual with the motivation and desire to excel within the consulting engineering field while embracing challenges as opportunities for personal and professional growth within the organization. Typical work assignments center around facilities engineering and design projects of varying sizes within the aviation, public works, water/wastewater, transportation, transit, and educational markets. JMT is seeking candidates with a wide range of design and engineering experience in the educational, commercial, industrial, transportation, and public works industries.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Industrial Engineering or similar field from an ABET accredited program is required.

  • FE preferred and/or pursuits to obtain professional engineering licensure.

  • LEED accreditation is a plus.

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

  • Proactive attitude and approach to problem solving, collaboration, and with meeting role objectives.

  • Ability and interest to work in a multidisciplinary, geographically diverse team environment

  • Desire to participate and excel with a broad range of project types, roles, customers, and tasks.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience related to a combination of building HVAC, building mechanical, plumbing, commissioning, central plant design, facilities construction, and other associated industries.

  • Experience with commercial, industrial, and institutional clients and markets is a plus

  • Working knowledge of AutoDesk products, including AutoCAD and REVIT and building load analysis and energy evaluation (ex: Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, DOE Energy Star Portfolio Manager) software along with computing production tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, BlueBeam is a plus.

  • Familiarity with cross-discipline design software integration a plus (e.g. Microstation, Civil3D, etc.)

  • Experience with collaboration software (e.g. Sharepoint, MS Teams, Outlook, etc.) a plus

  • Understanding and application of industry codes and standards (e.g. International Codes (ICC), ASHRAE Guidelines, and NFPA Codes) for completing related design engineering work.

    Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment 90% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs.) may be required as needed.
