The Benefits Analyst I (Accommodations) will contribute to the success of the Corporation through analysis and customer service support of the Company's Job Accommodations process. This position will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our associates, including our business partners, to respond to Associate requests for accommodations as outlined in Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act. This position will also provide consultation on requests for medical and religious accommodations, ensure timely and concise documentation of interactions through our case management system, be able to connect the dots with other benefits offerings that are an input or output to this program, associate and management education on the Reasonable Accommodation process, and in general, identifying and pursuing process improvements.
What you will do
Prepare cases for review with the Reasonable Accommodation Review Committee (RARC), participate in the weekly call to discuss requests for accommodations, capture meeting minutes, convey outcome to appropriate parties for action. The RARC is made up of Legal, HR Services, Benefits, and Regional HR.
Research and document all relevant information on each request prior to the call and share those details in the form of an agenda with the participants prior to the call.
Actively participate in ADA Committee discussions as needed, bringing facts, historical decisions and additional process information to the meetings.
Participate in program projects, offering expertise, presenting ideas, and taking on tasks where appropriate/needed.
Manage requests for job accommodations, monitor FMLA denial/exhaustion events for transition to the program.
Vendor oversight - coordinate process improvements and issue resolution.
Customer service support to Associates, internal staff, HR, management, and vendors/partners as needed to resolve complex associate issues.
Business partners include Associates as well as business partners across all areas of Human Resources, Legal, Payroll, Workers Compensation, Technology and outside vendors.
Problem solve associate issues, internal departmental job accommodation coordination, and identify process improvements.
Responsible for day-to-day activities of the program to ensure outstanding customer service and accurate and efficient administration in accordance with program design and legal requirements.
Purpose of the role
The primary objectives for this position are ensuring that the Job Accommodations and Employment Sponsorship processes at CarMax are administered according to their terms, including engagement in the interactive process, and improving the Associate experience as it relates to their request for a reasonable accommodation. Other key expectations for this position include the provision of exceptional customer service, issue resolution, and an ongoing communications improvement strategy for our Associates and business partners.
Qualifications and Requirements
1-2 years' experience in Job Accommodations, Leaves Administration, and/or other related job experience required
College degree in Business or Human Resources is desired
Strong attention to detail and a commitment for follow through
Strong written communication skills (proven)
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills (proven)
Ability to apply effective and appropriate independent judgment skills in core job functions
Proven organizational skills - must be eager to multi-task and operate in a fast-paced challenging environment
