GENERAL SUMMARY
Assists the Medical Staff Leadership and Manager with the day-to-day operational activities and support of the personnel functions of the Medical Staff Services Department, providing positive leadership to the Medical Staff organization in carrying out these duties.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Associate Degree preferred. May substitute education with four (4) years' experience working with in same or similar position.
Four (4) or five (5) years' experience performing same or similar job duties or related experience in managed/health care industry
Thorough and complete understanding of The Joint Commission (JC) standards as they relate to the Medical Staff and Allied Health Professional (AHP) policies and procedures, governance, credentialing, and re-credentialing. Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required in order to effectively interact with all levels of staff. Professional demeanor required.
Must be current certified by the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) as a Certified Professional Credentialing Specialists, or Certified Professional Medical Staff Manager, or in active pursuit of one NAMSS certification. Must be obtained within 3 years. Technical knowledge of automated/computerized support system and maintenance of same (CACTUS, MS Office, Premier/Quality Advisor).
Must possess demonstrated ability to accurately review Medical Staff and AHP application files upon completion by the Centralized Credentialing Office (CCO). Must possess analytical skills to offer appropriate resolution to identify problems in consultation with the Manager, Medical Staff Services, as appropriate.
Requires the ability to be use good judgment, diplomacy, and professionalism while multitasking and working with a variety of personalities and temperaments. Must possess excellent planning and organizational skills to work effectively and efficiently in a highly regulated environment.
Possess expert knowledge of the Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, Policies and Procedures, and the standards of all regulatory agencies, involving the Medical Staff and AHP.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in a normal office setting where there is no discomfort due to noise, dust, temperature and the like.
Work involves considerable mental and visual fatigue due to amount of detail and accuracy required as well as pressure to meet deadlines.
Work required flexible scheduling.
