Are you looking to work part-time as a physical therapist? Maxim Healthcare Services in Carlsbad is looking for a Physical Therapist who will be able to complete 6 visits per week with 6 different patients (pediatrics and Adults) located all over North County of San Diego.
Opportunity of increase in visits per week may be available as Maxim Healthcare continues to receive new referrals daily.
Hourly Compensation: $80 per hour - $90 per hour
The Physical Therapist is responsible for performing patient evaluations, as well as providing and documenting therapy services in accordance with plan of care developed for each individual patient and physician's orders when applicable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs patient reassessments and regularly reevaluates patient for rehabilitation needs, and works in collaboration with the physician and other members of the healthcare team to modify the plan of care as appropriate
Participates in developing the plan of care in collaboration with the physician and other members of the health care team
When applicable, completes initial comprehensive assessment of patient and family to determine home care needs; provides a complete physical assessment and history of current and previous illness(es)
Assesses and evaluates and/or assists the physician in assessing and evaluating therapeutic, rehabilitative, function status, and home environment (as applicable)
Assesses muscle strength, mobility, gait, and Range of Motion (ROM)
On incisions resulting from orthopedic surgery, removes staples or sutures and manages incision line
Provides physical therapy treatment and establishes physical therapy plan of care
Instructs patient, families, and/or caregivers in the use of and care of therapeutic appliances
Determines priority needs for physical therapy
Reports patients' reaction(s) to treatment or changes in condition to physician and/or Director of Clinical Services or designee
Initiates physical therapy program and instructs, consults, and/or advises other personnel and/or family/caregiver regarding certain phases of physical therapy with which they may work with the patient, and explains the goals of the physical therapy program by participating in case conferences
Trains patient in use of prosthetic device(s) and use of other assistive devices (e.g., walker); ensures equipment used in the course of patient treatment is in good working order
Uses appropriate equipment to meet patient goals, cleans and maintains equipment according to manufactures guidelines
Prepares and submits clinical and progress summaries based on the attainment and progress of goals, and responses to treatment or changes in condition
Home setting: Identifies patient and family/caregiver needs for other home health services and refers as necessary
Participates in discharge planning
Provides in-service education programs for other disciplines (e.g., provides in-services to Home Health Aides, Occupational Therapists, etc.) as needed
Participates in peer consultation process
Supervises Physical Therapy Assistants according to the company's policies/procedures and State regulations
Participates in quarterly medical record reviews as applicable
Participates in care coordination with the company and other personnel caring for the patient to assure that their efforts effectively complement each other and support the objectives outlined in the plan of care
Provides/submits accurate and timely documentation in accordance with the plan of care and company policy and procedures
Complies with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding professional standards and practice standards
Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the state of practice
Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy
One (1) year of prior professional Physical Therapy experience in an acute care facility, outpatient setting, community health service or home health agency preferred.
Must possess and maintain current CPR certification in accordance with State regulation(s)
Current record of PPD or chest x-ray results
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
