Groups using the 3-2 schedule:

We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

At this time, Dominion Energy cannot transfer nor sponsor a work visa for this position.

Job Summary

The successful intern(s) will be working under the direction of a Supervisor/Mentor. This role determines facility design and material, time and cost estimates for the construction and maintenance of subdivisions as well as relocation of distribution facilities for customers within assigned areas. Design distribution facilities based on customer load requirements and existing facilities. Inspect work request job sites, determine metering requirements and prepare sketches of property and service agreements. Prepare cost estimates based on design of new construction or modification. Prepare joint use notification CATV permits, underground agreements, revenue calculations, etc. Determine tree-trimming requirements and initiates activity. Obtain right-of-way and easement agreements and highway/railroad permits. Communicate electrical/construction requirements to customers. Assist in service restoration in the field during outages. Duties and responsibilities will be up to 80% in the office and up to 20% in the field. Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Personal computer software applications including Microsoft Office. AutoCad experience preferred.

  • Verbal, written and interpersonal communication; time management and organization; math and technical aptitude.

  • Effectively interact with customers; work in a team; attention to detail; understand and apply work flow process.

  • Physical attributes to perform essential function of the job in the field and during storm trouble - walking, climbing, stooping, bending and prolonged standing.

  • Student must be enrolled in 4-year program or in a 2-year program with intent to transfer to 4-year institution.

  • Students must have a graduation date of Spring 2025 or later.

  • Engineering-degreed students in an ABET accredited program will not be considered for this position. All Engineering Technology degrees are acceptable. Interest in Building and Construction project management a plus.

  • Must have a 2.5 GPA or greater.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive a company vehicle.

Education Requirements

  • Student must be enrolled in 4-year program or in a 2-year program with intent to transfer to 4-year institution.

  • Students must have a graduation date of Spring 2025 or later

  • Engineering-degreed students in an ABET accredited program will NOT be considered for this position. All Engineering Technology degrees are acceptable. Interest in Building and Construction project management a plus.

  • Preferred degrees: Eng Tech, Const Mgmt, Business, Economics, Education, Liberal Arts

  • Must have a 2.5 GPA or greater.
