Responsibilities Serves as a Sales Store Checker in a commissary store at a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) facility. The primary purpose of this position is to operate a cash register scanning system to check out items and to receive payment for purchases made in a DeCA commissary. . Position responsibilities include: Operates an electronic checkout system, makes change, and verifies change fund and amount of currency received during an assigned shift. Manages change machines ensuring proper amounts of cash and coins are available. Assists customers by answering questions concerning prices, identification, and location of items. Counts cash and negotiable instruments and to prepare an accountability report. Manages the self-check-out registers assisting customers in the correct processing of their purchases. Changes register tape, and clear routine equipment and scanning jams on registers. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume and supporting documents must show that you possess (A) 6 months of general experience, OR (B) 1 full year of successfully completed education above high school that was complete in an accredited business, secretarial, technical school, junior college, college or university, OR (C) a combination of experience and education that equals 100% of the qualification requirements. To compute the percentage of experience and education you have that meets the qualification requirements, divide your total months of experience by 6. Then divide your semester hours by 30. Add the two percentages. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Education used to qualify for this position must be from an accredited school or educational institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and a copy of your transcript is required as part of your application package.
