SECURITY INTELLIGENCE AND INVESTIGATIONS ANALYST

SpaceX is building out our security org to protect some of the world's most advanced technologies including: rockets, Dragon capsules for human transport, inter-planetary transport vehicles, the world's largest satellite communications network, etc. As an industry leader, we are a target of adversaries, both foreign and domestic, focused on slowing us down and accessing our proprietary technology. The work we do on the investigations & intelligence team will literally safeguard mankind becoming an interplanetary species.

You will be responsible for the research, analysis, production, and dissemination of information of relevance to protecting the safety and security of personnel, brand, global assets, and operations at SpaceX. This role is also responsible for supporting investigations and due diligence efforts, either stemming from intelligence conducted or through other escalation protocols (e.g., InfoSec, HR, law enforcement). You will use comprehensive understanding of various collection methods and platforms to explore new data sources, build effective queries, and combine information from disparate sources.

An active Top Secret security clearance, or ability to obtain one, is desired but not required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proactively gather, analyze, and interpret data from a wide variety of sources to detect internal and external indicators of threats that could impact critical SpaceX operations, including nation-state, insider, and cyber

  • Provide short and long term intelligence products, such as daily intelligence briefs or urgent situation reports to ensure executive leadership is aware of the most significant threats to the business

  • Facilitate information sharing by fostering relationships and partnering with internal stakeholder groups including Info Security, National Security, Physical Security, Finance, Legal, and HR, as well as external local and federal law enforcement

  • Perform research using both intelligence gathering tools and advanced open-source intelligence gathering methods

  • Conduct intelligence analysis, threat assessment and analysis, and investigations on persons and groups of interest to determine whether they pose a threat, including interviews and data analysis

  • Periodically evaluate the SpaceX Investigations & Intelligence Program and seek ways to improve capabilities, including proactively maintaining awareness of industry intelligence practices and pursuing both the techniques and tools necessary to sustain a cutting-edge intelligence program

  • Manage and safeguard sensitive information, including case files and intelligence reports

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in an intelligence or security field and 2+ years of professional experience in intelligence, investigative, and/or forensic psychology OR 4+ years professional experience in intelligence, investigative, and/or forensic psychology without a degree

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in an intelligence field including: Intelligence Studies, International Relations, Security Studies, International Security, Journalism, Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Fraud, etc.

  • Intelligence experience with the military, law enforcement, or government agency

  • Proficiency in one or more foreign languages

  • Overseas professional or educational experience

  • Advanced proficiency in Open Source Intelligence gathering, including web-based social medial platforms, online search tools, applications, and communications technology

  • Experience with research and intelligence analytic techniques

  • Strong research and writing skills

  • Strong analytical, oral, and presentation skills

  • Experience with basic computer applications, search engines, and data processing systems

  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, quick, and ambiguous project schedule in an unstructured environment

  • Highly collaborative with a great degree of emotional intelligence and maturity

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of a team in a fast-paced high-tech environment

  • Active Top Secret or Top Secret SCI clearance, or ability to obtain one desired but not required

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to travel ad hoc, although only minimal travel is expected at this time

  • Candidates will be subject to pre-employment screening including background check and drug/alcohol test as well as random drug and alcohol testing during employment
