MISSION INTEGRATION ENGINEER, STARSHIP GLOBAL MOBILITY

The Special Programs team at SpaceX is searching for an exemplary member to support development of a commercial service for Starship global mobility. This team is focused on providing rapid, affordable, and reliable cargo transportation services around Earth using SpaceX's Starship Super Heavy launch vehicle. The Mission Integration Engineer serves as a customer interface and is responsible for mission design and execution of delivering time-critical cargo. The Mission Integration Engineer also works closely with disciplines across SpaceX such as vehicle engineering, flight reliability, payload integration, and launch operations to ensure safe and successful mission completion.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a customer interface at meetings, tests, and reviews to develop operations plans, design missions, and verify payload flightworthiness.

  • Coordinate Starship launch and recovery logistics with internal and external stakeholders to safely and successfully integrate, launch, land, and deliver time-critical payloads.

  • Ensure contract deliverables are completed on-time and per customer expectations.

  • Partner with SpaceX launch operations and engineering disciplines to design missions and develop efficient internal and customer processes to expedite integration for future Starship cargo missions.

  • Provide mission-specific inputs for insurance and regulatory filings for launch.

  • Support customer education, proposal development, and contract negotiations for Starship transportation services.

  • Lead technical projects that advance Starship and SpaceX's global mobility service.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.

  • 1+ years of professional experience working in aerospace or space industry.

  • 1+ years of technical project management experience.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master's degree in engineering, business, or policy.

  • Knowledge of launch vehicle payload integration, aircraft loading, and transportation logistics.

  • Experience managing commercial and government contracts for transportation services.

  • Highly detail oriented, hardworking, and professional with excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Active Top Secret or Top Secret SCI clearance required; must be willing to pursue a clearance if not already cleared. Note that an active clearance may provide the opportunity for you to work on sensitive SpaceX missions. If so, you will be subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing.

ITAR REQUIREMENTS:

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
