What you'll do in your role.
This position has a wide spectrum of responsiblities in which it partners with and supports organizations across the entire enterprise. The Associate Investigator handles eDiscovery collections in support of the Litigation and Employment Relations groups within Legal Affairs, including mobile device collections for M&A or other high profile matters. The Associate Investigator also provides forensic support to the broader Corporate Investigations team, which can include email, internet history, Windows registry, log correlation and other forms of analysis. This position also partners with Cybersecurity teams on investigations of mutual interest including account takeover fraud as well as other unauthorized activities perpetrated via phishing and other varieties of cyber exploits.
Provide baseline technical, forensic guidance to investigators, attorneys, and other business partners with the collection, organization, and preparation of data for review and analysis in legal matters, regulatory filings, and investigations.
Provide digital forensics support to Corporate Investigations team on a variety of complex investigations related to Privacy, Financial Fraud, Brand Protection, Ethics & Compliance and other matters.
Handles complex, technical investigations related to every aspect of forensic data to include: the collection and preservation of stored media; detection and recovery of deleted, fragmented and corrupted data; e-mail analysis/tracing; password cracking and retrieval; and documentation of findings in a manner suitable for courtroom presentation.
Assist with the preparation of digital forensics consultative knowledge, education and awareness training on technological and digital forensics concepts for other business partners and multiple levels of management.
Assist on special projects with an enterprise-wide impact requiring guidance and direction from a forensics/investigation perspective.
Provide expert testimony regarding theories, principles, and practices regarding digital forensics.
The experience you'll bring.
Bachelors Degree (or equivalent) Digital Forensics, Computer Science or related discipline is preferred.
2-4 years Investigative experience in the public and/or private sector or equivalent experience.
Solid, foundational knowledge of network architecture, e-mail based systems, and security risks. Solid knowledge of Windows OS and familiarity of and ability to work within other OS, including Linux, Unix, MacOS, Android.
Experience in computer forensic examinations and chain of custody procedures required. Proven ability to learn & utilize forensic tools such as EnCase, Forensic Toolkit (FTK), X-Ways, Paraben, open source technologies and a variety of other software and applications.
Ability to handle basic correlation & analysis of disparate logging from a variety of sources including Splunk, SIEM, IDS and other data points. Ability to undertake static malware analysis and basic dynamic malware analysis in the context of a potential compromise/breach investigation.
Strong understanding of Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) plus related Electronically Stored Information (ESI) handling requirements to enable capability of leading a variety of eDiscovery collections. Foundational understanding of mobile forensics, including exposure to Cellebrite, Mobile Phone Examiner and other industry accepted tools.
Proven ability to maintain the integrity of confidential information, including subscriber data, sensitive financials, intellectual property and other proprietary or restricted information.
