Accountable for Shipping department operations, yard management, inventory, KPIs, budget and development. * Managing all aspects of the department financial, operational, people and process and service-related objectives to drive continuous improvement and efficiency gains to reduce overall cost-to-serve; participates in strategic and business process improvement projects for the distribution network. * Working as a team with the Receiving department Sr. Management on the cross training of all team members between both departments. * Perform daily tasks associated with the Shipping Departments daily outbound schedule, prepping personnel, planning loads, assisting whenever/wherever required. * Maintain an efficient flow throughout the department, keeping cost effectiveness and productivity as key goals always. * Analyze, review and dispute chargeback violations for detentions and/or loading procedures. * Review and ensure that direct reports have the support they need to effectively manage their workloads through proper coaching and development. * Evaluates the effectiveness of and recommends alternatives for work methods, procedures, controls and staffing to achieve accurate and timely movement and processing of product; manage to ensure warehouse layout is optimally aligned for maximum efficiency as seasonality and inventory needs require. * Interacts with business partners to drive results and deliver solutions including Supply * Directly responsible for ensuring that department, company needs are met, service is managed to KPIs, and concerns are handled promptly and completely; done through critical issues. * Work with vendors to ensure proper supplies are available to meet demand. * Promotes strong fiscal and ethical standards throughout the department. * Nurture and develop department staff to maintain smooth volumes while assuring all customer requirements are met in a timely manner. * Build constructive, effective relationships throughout the distribution center, and Corp. region. * Identifies marginal and high performers and takes action to correct deficiencies or to reward/recognize high performers. * Will conduct performance appraisals, as well as provide training and development programs designed to improve, enhance and/or maintain or exceed performance standards.
