Summary The primary purpose of a Sales Store Checker is to operate a cash register scanning system to check out items and to receive payment for purchase made in a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) facility. Responsibilities Position responsibilities include: Operate an electronic checkout system, makes change, and verifies change fund and amount of currency received during an assigned shift. Manage change machines ensuring proper amounts of cash and coins are available. Assist customers by answering questions concerning prices, identification, and location of items. Count cash and negotiable instruments and to prepare an accountability report. Manage the self-check-out registers assisting customers in the correct processing of their purchases. Change register tape, and clear routine equipment and scanning jams on registers. Physical requirements: Work requires frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, and handling items weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance. Perform work which requires standing, stooping, kneeling, bending and climbing. Example of general experience Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to perform the duties of Sales Store Checker. Education Education used to qualify for this position must be from an accredited school or educational institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and a copy of your transcript is required as part of your application package.
