Title: Industrial Equipment Mechanic - RFT Location: United States-Florida-Pensacola Job Number: 2400033F Job Summary: Dismantles, repairs, relocates, modifies, maintains, aligns and installs sections of conveyor systems and related mechanized distribution center support machinery and equipment. Duties and Responsibilities: Utilizes standard methods and techniques to determine the extent of repairs required; materials or parts needed. Disassembles, repairs, and rebuilds conveyor systems component parts. This requires the ability to interpret and apply the requirements contained in technical manuals, shop directives, blueprints, and other documentation determining critical dimensions, key reference points, and electrical power requirements. Must be able to interpret information in the computer to solve conveyor problems and provide statistical information. Under general supervision dismantles, moves and relocates various types of conveyor systems/components or installs new machinery, equipment, and electrical power supplies. May include anchoring conveyor system machinery to concrete slabs, assembling and connecting accessory or auxiliary components such as still ladders, platforms and guard rails as required. Makes adjustments for balance and conducts operational tests of the entire system. Applies standard formulas, shop mathematics, trade theories, and industry practices in calculating needed materials and problem solving. May use various test equipment and measuring devices such as micrometers, light and decibel meters. May operate a motor vehicle to transport materials and personnel when required. Performs other related duties as required. SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: Works as a part of a team under general supervision. Work is assigned through work orders, blueprints, and other oral and written instruction. Employee selects tools, decides on methods and techniques to use. Recommends materials by comparison with parts to be replaced. Supervisor provides guidance on unusual problems or checks to see that completed work meets or exceeds standards. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is usually done inside and involves exposure to moving objects and sharp edges with the possibility of cuts and bruises, and to noise and vibration from machines. May occasionally climb and work from ladders, man lifts and staging and falling. Dirt, grease, and dampness are frequently encountered. Various protective devices such as hard hats, gloves, safety shoes and glasses are used or required. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Handles objects weighing 45 pounds and occasionally carries objects 45 pounds and over for considerable distances. Incumbents are required to push, pull, reach, walk, stand, crawl, kneel, reach, and walk in cramped positions over and under machinery of all types for sustained periods of time. JOB REQUIREMENTS: If incumbent operates a motor vehicle: 1. Must possess a valid state driver's license or a valid commercial driver's license (CDL). 2. Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to operate a motor vehicle safely. Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: One year of experience that provided the applicant with the knowledge of Performing maintenance and PMs on any industrial types of equipment including lift equipment, order picker, forklift, etc. and conveyance systems, reading flow charts, schematics and blue prints, working with electronic test equipment hydraulics and pneumatics and facilities maintenance. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Three years of experience that provided the knowledge and ability to perform repairs and service a variety of component parts, accessories, and parts of conveyor systems and related mechanized distribution center support machinery and equipment.
