Job Description:
A Solutions Engineer (SE) works together with a project team to deliver all the infrastructure and its supporting elements in a timely and efficient manner to ensure the best project outcomes. SEs work closely with Architects and customers to identify the low-level details needed to facilitate the implementation, and work together with Subject Matter Experts across the many infrastructure teams at Bank of America (Middleware, DBAs, SAs, Network, Load Balancing, Storage, Access Management, etc.) to ensure the successful builds. Familiarity with all the infrastructure types listed above, and how they all interact with each other, is required. Strong interpersonal and technical skills are required, as is the desire and ability to constantly learn new things.
This job is responsible for defining the engineering approach within an end-to-end technology stack. This job will align to a technical domain but acts as contributor to multiple cross functional teams. Key responsibilities include engaging in development and production environments to identify and improve performance/capacity issues and creating and ensuring system design technology solutions comply with enterprise standards. Job expectations include providing and contributing to improvements in solution design, testing, and delivery practices.
Responsibilities:
Participates in solution-driven discussions, such as various Communities of Practice (COPs), contributes to the design of large or highly complex architectural designs, and finds creative solutions through their knowledge of the domain and operational constraints
Produces detailed designs of infrastructure and application architecture components
Ensures that execution aligns with product strategy by working with product management, product owners, and other stakeholders, contributing to the technology strategy for their technical domain
Collaborates with Development and Infrastructure teams to understand technical solutions and provide the performance capabilities required in the application across the technology stack put forward by Solution Engineer Lead
Mentors and guides more junior Engineers ensuring system design technology solutions comply with enterprise system design and engineering standards
Required Qualifications:
Solutions Engineer with 5 years of hands-on experience.
Experience with Windows and Linux System Administration skills.
Experience with Excel and Visio skills
Experience with different infrastructure types:
OS management experience (Windows and Linux)
Middleware (Apache, WebLogic, WebSphere, IIS, etc.)
Databases (Oracle, MSSQL, Sybase, DB2, etc.)
Load Balancing (F5, AVI, Nginx, etc.)
Network (TCPIP, Firewalls, DNS, etc.)
Storage (Local, SAN, NAS, s3, etc.)
Active Directory and access management
Cloud infrastructure and virtualization
Demonstrated ability to manage many tasks and competing priorities.
Up to date understanding of best practices regarding system security measures.
Professional work experience in analyzing computer hardware and software.
Ability to work with various departments in a large organization to facilitate the orderly execution of a proposed project plan.
Ability to design architectural solutions for complex technology problems using available and emerging technologies.
Managing changes, and projects across various testing and PROD environments
Availability to work during onshore hours: 9AM - 5PM ET. Self-driven, generalist, innovative, result-oriented, motivating, leadership, and Project management skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
Experience working in a large, complex, and highly regulated organization.
Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience.
Ansible experience
Scripting (BASH, Powershell, etc.) experience
Container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, etc.)
Education Qualification: Degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Communication, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
