ACCOUNTANT
The Accountant, reporting to the Accounting Manager, is a critical member of the General Accounting team who will play an impactful role in the day-to-day accounting operations of SpaceX. You will be responsible for recording accounting transactions, preparing various balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting other ad-hoc requests.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in the accounting close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting of all monthly financial information for SpaceX and its subsidiaries
Improve internal processes and controls related to fixed assets, prepaids, and cash accounts
Ensure we are accurately capturing, capitalizing, and depreciating our fixed assets on time
Work cross-functionally with multiple teams at SpaceX on internal processes and controls related to the fixed asset process
Prepare other general ledger journal entries including balance sheet reconciliations and identify and resolve variances
Assist in month-end close reporting process including participating in continuous process improvement efforts
Support in financial statement audits by preparing audit documentation and working with external financial statement audit teams
Support in ad hoc accounting and financial data analysis, as needed
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or other business discipline
1+ years of accounting experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
CPA license (or equivalent)
Big 4 accounting firm experience
Proficient computer skills, including Excel
Strong accounting knowledge and an understanding of US GAAP
Positive attitude and flexibility to changing priorities, especially in the period of month/quarter/year-end close
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel and Word
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and SQL
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization
Demonstrate strong organizational skills, initiative, and the ability to be a self-starter
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Willingness to work long hours and weekend when needed to meet critical deadlines
This position is based in Hawthorne, CA and requires being onsite - remote work not considered
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Accountant: $75,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
