Position summary: Seeking a technical expert with project and client management experience. This position is responsible for leading various environmental site assessments, remedial designs, and permit applications. The team member will oversee field staff performing investigations and remediation activities at contaminated properties, and lead report preparation. Some field work will be conducted at potentially contaminated sites. OSHA 40-hour Health and Safety Training, including respirator fit testing, will be provided by JMT. Mine Site Safety Training may also be provided. U.S. Residency Required.

Compensation is $102,000. - $115,000., commensurate with experience, education, and certifications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Serves as a technical lead with the ability to positively influence customers, suppliers, and managers.

  • Supervises and directs surface and subsurface investigations that employ soil borings, test pits, well installations, well destructions, soil, groundwater, vapor sampling, and aquifer testing.

  • Conducts technical approach reviews to confirm the soundness of a technical approach, such as qualified staff are proposed, technical solutions appropriately address our client's needs, and technical risks are identified along with an effective risk management strategy.

  • Delivers strategic solutions to complex problems with senior level assistance. Coordinates and prepares written reports, work plans, and technical memorandums, analyzes data and develops supported conclusions and recommendations.

  • Establishes project pricing and budgets

  • Monitors schedules, budgets, accounts receivable and manpower requirements and prepares invoices.

  • Manages subconsultants

  • Proactively identify opportunities to increase project efficiencies, improve technical approaches, and add value to client service offerings.

  • Evaluates and prepares proposed approaches, cost estimates and schedules for projects and programs.

  • Interacts regularly with clients to expand work assignments or market new work. Markets potential and existing clients, secures and manages clients and contracts.

  • Oversees and manages assigned staff working on project tasks

  • Analyzes and manages data received from field investigations; determines site conditions and impacts relative to appropriate standards or guidance.

  • Has a lead role in Remedial Work Plans/Implementation, SWPPPs, Brownfield Periodic Review Reports, Brownfield IC/EC Certifications, and other technical reports.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Experience in report writing

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in geology, environmental engineering, environmental science or related field.

  • 10-20 years professional experience

  • NYS Engineer Licensure or approval of NYS reciprocity within 3 months of start date

  • Project and client management

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with NYSDEC Brownfield Cleanup Program and Superfund

  • Experience working with local clients at the county and state level

  • Project management and business development experience

  • OSHA 40-HR HAZWOPER training

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or GIS programs

Working Conditions

Work is performed in-person in a general office environment and in the field. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
