TEST OPERATIONS SPECIALIST, STRUCTURES (STARSHIP)
This position is a Development Test Technician for the Starship Structures Test team. The role is highly multidisciplinary and this individual will be tasked with a wide variety of test equipment and test article fabrication and operations in support of the SpaceX mission. The team consists of technicians, engineers and specialists working closely together to build mechanical and fluid assemblies, modify and integrate test articles, build data and control systems, and execute test operations. The ideal candidate is highly skilled with mechanical and electrical disciplines, hands-on, flexible, a quick learner, works well in a fast-paced environment, and possesses a can-do attitude.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with engineers to develop test procedures, operations and automation
Operate test console and execute tests
Develop and maintain control system architecture for tests
Select, modify and maintain equipment needed to perform tests
Work with technicians to plan, build, and activate test equipment (mechanical assemblies, gas, hydraulic, cryogenic fluid systems, etc.)
Oversee test campaigns from concept to completion
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalency certificate
3+ years of technician experience in mechanical or electrical disciplines
1+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in a technical field
A&P License
Proven ability to rapidly change roles, responsibilities, and learn new skills while working in a high-paced and challenging work environment
Experience building, activating, and operating test stands
Proficient with standard computer software (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook) and some experience with CAD software (NX, TeamCenter), database / reporting tools (SQL), and software tools (Python, LABView)
Proficiency in writing and interpreting planning documents, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, drawings, manuals, blueprints, and engineering sketches
Experience operating test consoles, writing or modifying automation, and configuration software systems
Experience building and activating data and control system, wiring harnesses, and instrumentation
Experience planning crane lift operations or other large mechanical assemblies
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Hardware typically is built in tight quarters and physical dexterity is necessary to preform job functions
The ability to lift heavy objects is required in this position (up to 25lbs unassisted)
Must be able to work at elevated heights
Must be able to work in extreme outdoor environments - heat, cold, rain, etc.
Must be able to work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
Must be available for overtime and weekends as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility required
