SAIC is seeking a Space Protection Payload Sr. Systems Engineer to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) services to a rapidly expanding Government Intelligence Community (IC) customer for a complex space and ground efforts as part of an exciting and innovative set of programs.
The Space Protection Payload Sr. Systems Engineer supports a USG System Program Office (SPO) in a technical capacity for engineering and integration of the key payload for a Major System Acquisition program within the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). As an individual contributor and an integral team member, this individual works with high-performing systems engineers and acquisition specialists during the assembly, integration and testing (AI&T) of the current payload and leads a small team developing requirements for the next generation payload.
Specifically, the Space Protection Payload Sr. Systems Engineer will serve onsite with USG and other contractor personnel delivering Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) expertise to include the following functions:
Oversee the commercial developer build, test and delivery of the current design protection payload and assess compliance with statement of work and requirements
Provide technical review and advisory support on feasibility, development, acquisition, and operation of innovative technologies for future architectures, systems, capabilities, and performance
Integrate across multiple projects to ensure balanced and unified USG customer portfolio organized around future objective enterprise architecture and strategic vision
Define acquisition strategies and project plans, project life cycle plans, and associated schedules for the next generation payload and contribute to overall system effort
Define and document program level systems engineering process and integrate with enterprise level end to end systems engineering process
Identify, track, and resolve life cycle risks, issues, and opportunities for current and future build
Create integration, verification, validation, and test strategies and plans
Define mission assurance strategies and plans. Capture and document lessons learned
Write technical performance measurement plans and conduct performance assessments. Develop Measures of Effectiveness, Measures of Performance, Key Performance Parameters, and Technical Performance Measures to help quantify project and mission success
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors and 9+ years of relevant experience; OR Masters and 7+ years of relevant experience
Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Polygraph
5 or more years of Spacecraft systems engineering experience with integration and test experience
Creative problem-solving and analytical skills
Quality communication skills supporting written reports, group discussion, and oral briefings. High quality writing skills
Basic knowledge in application of SEIT methods to satellite, launch, and ground systems
Basic knowledge of acquisition and source selection policies and processes of USG
Desired Qualifications:
MS in Electrical, Software, or Computer Engineering
Experience with multiple satellite programs and satellite System Engineering Integration and Test
Experience in RADAR system operations, waveform usage and processing
Experience in RF systems design, specifications, development, manufacturing, and test
Experience with full lifecycle satellite engineering activities/milestones, satellite integration and test, and Launch and Initialization (L&I) activities
Current NRO-adjudicated clearance
