Responsibilities Serves as the Supervisory IT Specialist (SYSADMIN) in a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) HQ location. The primary purpose of this position is to supervise as well as provide technical leadership in the planning and coordination of the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of large-scale hardware and executive software systems that support the development, test and production environments for the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA). Position responsibilities include: This position is located in the Information Technology (IT) Group. Develops and implements plans for domain and server consolidation to improve efficiency of operations and support DeCA's IT architecture initiatives. Responsible for the coordination and direction of the members of the team, which consists of Information Technology (IT) specialists. Serves as Organizational Unit (OU) Manager for multiple servers in a complex networked environment. Information Technology (IT) Management Series 2210 (Alternative A) (opm.gov) To qualify for this position your resume and supporting documents must show that you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level or equivalent to at least GS-12 under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Examples of qualifying specialized experience: Recommends and implements corrective action when analysis indicates, in order to improve performance. Provide expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical executive software and enterprise hardware issues. Evaluates performance of DA civilian/contractor staff and gives advice, counsel and gives instructions on both administrative and technical matters. You must also meet the following requirements by the announcement closing date: Current and former federal employees in either the competitive or excepted service and current federal employees applying under VEOA eligibility are subject to time-in-grade. You must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade level to be eligible for promotion. See the Required Documents section to learn what documents are necessary to show you meet this requirement. The next lower grade level for this position is GS-12. Current civilian employees must have completed at least 90 days of federal civilian service since their latest non temporary appointment from a competitive referral certificate, known as time after competitive appointment.
