NETWORK OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN (STARSHEILD) - TOP SECRET CLEARANCE
Starshield leverages SpaceX's Starlink technology and launch capability to support national security efforts. While Starlink is designed for consumer and commercial use, Starshield is designed for government use, with an initial focus on earth observation, communications, and hosted payloads.
As a Starshield Network Operations Technician, you will be responsible for operating the new Starshield Network as it deploys and serves critical government programs around the world. You will manage changes and maintenance required to improve and sustain service for users while responding to real-time anomalies. You will work with engineers across disciplines and external partners to ensure that all problems are root-caused and mitigated to prevent future reoccurrence. This role is ideal for someone looking to join a fast-paced Network Operations team and support critical programs in the national interest.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Detect and triage emerging anomalies on satellites, ground stations, terrestrial network interop, terrestrial network interconnections, network co-location sites, and internet points of presences.
Manage routine and emergency maintenance performed by SpaceX personnel and partner contractors.
Measure, preserve, and improve the uptime and performance of the Starshield network.
Follow, maintain, and improve processes used for managing the Starshield network.
Support individual customer escalations.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
1+ years of professional experience in a network, IT, or security role, including but not limited to US Cyber Command, a network operation center (NOC), security operation center (SOC), or similar network center.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Ability to take on projects that require taking initiative and developing new expertise.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment that includes working with changing needs and requirements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in mission-critical operations where outstanding attention to detail is required to ensure success.
Experience creating documentation and procedures.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering discipline.
Certifications including Cisco, Juniper, CompTIA, or other industry certifications.
Experience using SQL in a work environment.
Familiarity with service provider and home networks technologies including but not limited to:
Connectivity (Ethernet, WiFi, WDM, IPv4 and IPv6)
Switching and routing
Internet services (DNS, DHCP, NTP, UPnP, NAT)
Knowledge and troubleshooting about most common consumer devices (NAS, IoT, Smart devices)
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Active Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
Note that an active clearance may provide the opportunity for you to work on sensitive SpaceX missions. If so, you will be subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing.
Must be available to work scheduled shift, including holidays.
This is not a remote position and will require relocation if not already local to the Redmond, WA area.
Must be available to work 12 hours a day on one or more of the following shifts:
Night-shift A (7pm - 7am)
Sunday - Tuesday w/ every other Wednesday
Night-shift B (7pm - 7am)
Thursday - Saturday w/ every other Wednesday
Day-shift A (7am - 7pm)
Sunday - Tuesday w/ every other Wednesday
Day-shift B (7am - 7pm)
Thursday - Saturday w/ every other Wednesday
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Network Operations Technician (Starshield)/Level 1: $29.00/hour
Network Operations Technician (Starshield)/Level 2: $31.50/hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
