We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Military service members and veterans with a rank of E-5 or higher plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.

Job Summary

This role offers the opportunity to help Dominion Energy achieve its strategic objectives by providing business and technical expertise in evaluating compliance and our compliance and control environment, assessing areas for efficiency and improvement, and communicating results to senior leaders.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage a group of audit professionals in delivering an independent, objective assurance and advisory services designed to add value.

  • Provide day-to-day supervision of audit teams, including coordinating work assignments, reviewing workpapers, and coaching team members that effectively execute the annual audit plan.

  • Actively engage team members to motivate, develop and retain top talent in the Audit Services department.

  • Build strong working relationships with management to understand their goals, processes, risks, and challenges to better position Audit Services for future assistance.

  • With minimal guidance and general direction from senior management, ensure the timely and effective completion of the annual audit plan in a manner that is in accordance with company policies and procedures, and professional audit standards.

  • Ensure audits are designed to verify compliance with legal requirements and applicable policies and procedures.

  • Prepare reports for senior management on the results of audits and advisory engagements, including working with management to provide agreed-upon action plans and recommendations for improvement. Communicate audit results to all levels of management.

  • Participate in the risk assessment process with other audit leaders, including the development of the annual audit plan. Serve as an advisor to senior management on critical issues.

  • Travel required: approximately 15 - 20% (primarily to other Dominion Energy locations).

  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Note: This position can be based in Richmond, Virginia or Cayce, South Carolina.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

8+ years related work experience (energy industry preferred), in auditing or evaluating any of the following areas: environmental compliance, sustainability programs or reporting, or environmental regulations. Note: A Master's degree will count as one year towards the experience requirement. A partial year of experience of six months or more will be rounded up to one year.

Specific knowledge, skills, abilities and experience include:

  • Experience in people leadership and project management.

  • A proven ability to lead, engage and motivate others.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Demonstrated strength in influencing and negotiating effectively to drive results.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Broad understanding of business functions, processes, and systems,

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required to interface with all levels of the organization and to conduct meetings with senior management and external auditors.

  • Proven ability to manage expectations, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Results orientation with solid process improvement skills.

  • Work experience with environmental agencies, consulting, auditing, or compliance is a plus.

  • Extensive understanding and a working knowledge in evaluating the design effectiveness and operational effectiveness of a system of internal and operational controls is a plus.

  • Knowledge of internal auditing standards, concepts and practices is a plus.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor

Preferred Disciplines: Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Biology, or similar concentrations preferred.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Prefer Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA) or Certified Environmental Auditor (CEA).

Six Sigma experience/certification a plus.
