Sr Engineer, Technical Support - T-Mobile

Job Description

As a Senior Engineer, you will be part of the Regional National Development Team, working directly with our Regional and Market Development, RF, Operations teams collaborating in all areas related to performing complex network upgrades. The Engineer will provide cost-effective support and implement the Magenta Build Initiative solutions. You will be responsible for identifying and solving highly complex issues focused on streamlining existing processes and procedures to optimize the build process and the ability to create strategies from scratch when needed in collaboration with others as required. The position will require the Engineer to be directly involved in or leading implementation of process changes with the impacted teams as the SME (Subject Matter Expert). In addition, the Engineer will support the NPI (New Product Introduction) process and document review and tools to support deployment related to network upgrades of NPI. The engineer will be tasked with developing and enforcing policies and procedures, properly organizing projects, tasks, and providing the best possible end-user support experience. Create, use, measure, and track best practices regarding system installation to ensure minimum downtime and disruption to the network.

What you'll do in your role.

  • Partner with national, regional & market teams to streamline processes and practices to improve network upgrades pre and post activities. This includes working with teams to identify best in class practices and create documentation that can be used for large scale rollout of identified practices

  • Ability to plan, provide feedback and lead NPI programs for implementation on a national level.

  • Develop and manage complex programs focused on process improvement including documentation, performance tracking and creating clearly defined goals

  • Lead Operational Excellence initiatives related toupgrade programs that are managed Nationally

  • Work directly with vendors, carriers, and internal departments to drive performance improvements and influence changes that benefit the business

  • Ensure configuration MOPs are implemented correctly, adjusted to always focus on minimizing downtime and ensure tracking is in place to ensure compliance

  • Prepare, report, review test results/Methods of Procedure (MOP) documentation and provide feedback to improve documentation while collaborating with other National teams to implement change when required

  • Share knowledge with other team members on network tools and programs needed to support its work

  • Identify and address process gaps to improve workflow activities

The experience you'll bring.

  • Previous experience working in telecom network management and deployment activities, preferably with 5 or more years in the providing implementation and technical support with an excellent understanding of both Development and Field Operations activities required to perform network upgrades

  • Intimate familiarity and experience with NPI processes and implementation standards

  • Excellent understanding of Operations day to day activity to support network troubleshooting including new product training and support.

  • Excellent understanding of entire development process from soft cost to On Air that are needed to build a cell site.

  • Must have familiarity of associated tools used to support building a cell site ex. BOM, RFDS and how to read construction drawings.

  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks with minimal direct supervision

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to build strong relationships with peer engineers internally and externally in customer and vendor organizations.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail with an ability to multitask

  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to prioritize many projects across multiple teams.

  • Ability to delegate tasks & give clear instructions

  • Must be available for out-of-hours (night planned works) from time to time.

Education

Minimum Required

- Bachelor's Degree. Engineering, Computer Science or related

- In lieu of degree, 5+ years equivalent experience may be considered

  • At least 18 years of age

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • T-Mobile requires all employees in this position to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to starting work, unless precluded from doing so by applicable law. The CDC currently defines -fully vaccinated- as two weeks after the second dose for Pfizer and Moderna, and two weeks after the single dose of Johnson & Johnson.
