SR. RERSOURCE GENERATION ENGINEER, LAUNCH SYSEMS (STARSHIP)
Work with brilliant, passionate engineers to tackle difficult problems and push the boundaries of propellant generation on Earth, the Moon, and Mars. This is the team that will engineer the propellant generation technologies that will take mankind to Mars.
We are looking for an experienced engineer who can design, build and commission systems to generate propellants for Starship in an environmentally efficient manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop rapid, reliable, and automated launch sites, landing sites, test sites, and propellant production facilities
Design, build, and commission air separation, liquefaction, and other cryogenic process equipment
Evaluate, improve and troubleshoot cryogenic system process performances
Design, build, and operate ground-based fluid systems to support fabrication, testing, and launching of Starship
Analyze and monitor process equipment performances (compressors, heat exchangers, etc.)
Coordinate with engineers from other disciplines (civil, structural, electrical, controls, etc.) to establish complete system design
Manage interdisciplinary launch engineering projects from concept through design, build, and activation
Work closely with operational teams to ensure system design is well-understood and easy to operate long term
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
5+ years of hands-on experience working in the design & development of cryogenic fluids, air separation, or carbon capture systems in a professional setting
2+ years of experience in the build, activation or operation of such systems
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Advanced degree in mechanical, aerospace or chemical engineering
Strong working knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and process engineering
Strong working knowledge of CO2 capture or other negative emissions technologies
Demonstrated expertise designing and operating cryogenic fluid systems
Experience in the filtration and distillation of liquid gases including liquid air and liquid natural gas
CAD capability for 3D Modeling (NX, SolidWork, etc.)
Knowledge of engineering standards and best practices
Experience operating and troubleshooting control systems required for remote operations
Experience commissioning and/or with plant operation (LNG, ASU, He, etc.)
Able to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment including daily interactions with technicians, engineers, and managers
Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, fast paced environment
Self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail
Passion for advancing the commercial space industry and human spaceflight
