Summary This announcement gathers applications from those seeking consideration to fill this role in one or more of the listed commissary store locations. As vacancies occur in the 90-day period after this announcement closes, and in accordance with category rating procedures, qualified and appointable applicants are referred for selection consideration, subject to restrictions of the DoD referral system for displaced employees. Responsibilities Serves as a Sales Store Checker in a commissary store at a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) facility. The primary purpose of this position is to operate a cash register scanning system to check out items and to receive payment for purchases made in a DeCA commissary. Position responsibilities include: Operating an electronic checkout system, making change, and verifying the change fund and amount of currency received during an assigned shift. Managing change machines and ensuring proper amounts of cash and coins are available. Assisting customers by answering questions concerning prices, identification, and location of items. Counting cash and negotiable instruments to prepare an accountability report. Managing the self-checkout registers assisting customers in the correct processing of their purchases. Changing register tape, and clearing routine equipment and scanning jams on registers. You are responsible for the completeness and accuracy of your application package. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for this position your resume must show you possess (1) 6 months of general experience, OR (2) one full year of education above high school, OR (3) a combination of experience and education that equals 100% of the qualification requirements. To compute the percentage of experience and education you have that meets the qualification requirements, divide your total months of experience by 6. Then divide your semester hours by 30. Add the two percentages. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Examples of qualifying experience: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform duties of a Sales Store Checker. Education Education used to qualify for this position must be from an accredited school or educational institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and a copy of your transcript is required as part of your application package. Failure to provide transcripts will result in you being rated ineligible for this position. If selected, you must provide an official transcript before we set your entrance on duty date. Additional Information Applicants with a Permanent Resident Card (aka Green Card) are authorized to live and work in the U.S. but are not eligible for employment in positions requiring U.S. citizenship. This position requires U.S. citizenship. The minimum age requirement is generally 18 years of age. Employing those under 18 may be possible under certain circumstances.
