TheSecurity Engineerwill be responsible for growing the security practices at Batteries Plus into a mature function. TheSecurity Engineerwill identify opportunities to implement security best practices to ensure that the perimeter, end points, users, and applications are secure from cyber threats. You will have a background in system administration, network security, and current cyber security disciplines. You must be mindful of the impact of changes as they are introduced to our environment.
Responsibilities:
System and Platform Maintenance
Sustain, enhance, and build automation tools to detect, remediate, and prevent security threats
Implement and maintain Intrusion Response and Detection (IDR) Systems
Know how effective our current security measures are at Batteries Plus
Identify our compliance strategies in regard to PCI, and NIST security frameworks
Review Vulnerability and Risk Management tools for opportunities to reduce threat count
Maintain relationships with external network consultants and security experts to build on your knowledge
Work with external vendors to identify opportunities to reduce attack surface and improve security posture
Coach other teams on security best practices
Key Performance Indicators
Create a list of services and related service levels that you will design our security environment around
Identify necessary Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the security infrastructure
Track service performance against agreed upon service levels and goals
Deliver weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports that indicate future needs
Improve Threat Posture
Lead the charge against cyber attacks through identifying opportunities to reduce attack surface by fortifying existing servers, network hardware, and applications
Work with the desktop team to identify security opportunities for end users and store employees
Keep a list of active threats in the wild and have a mitigation plan to stay ahead of threats
Maintain regular patching schedules for all infrastructure systems
Security Incident Detection and Response
Lead Security Incident Response (SIR) Management efforts during suspected attacks
Responsible for training others on their roles during a SIR
Will conduct Security Event Post Mortems
Track and steer the the implementation of Post Mortem Implementations
Qualifications:
5-7 years experience working as a Systems Administrator
5 + years experience scripting
Experience with ITIL process for Change and Incident Management
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Windows, Linux and/or Powershell preferred
Proven strong system/network debugging
Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, network, and application-level security
Proven experience with management/automation tooling
Consistent record of leading strategic technical projects
