GENERAL FUNCTION
The Director of Store Construction has oversight for new, remodel, refresh, and relocation construction projects of all store environments in supp-ort of the Luxottica Brand strategies and expansion plans. Leads a team in executing the strategic plan, by establishing priorities and determining resource allocation for effective delivery of all store construction projects. The Director of Store Construction is vigilant in the watch for new opportunities, create value for our brand partners, and takes the initiative to explore new possibilities. This management position within the Store Construction department requires positive team culture contributions including mentoring, supporting, and motivating.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages PM Group consisting of a team of internal Project Management professionals as well as external contracted services.
Responsible for leading the PM team in the construction of retail stores across multiple brands to include new stores, remodels, relocations, and refresh projects - from pre-approval through store opening.
Ensures projects are delivered to Brand quality standards, within approved budgets and on-time for planned store opening.
Manages the critical path and key milestones and events for projects, working cross-functionally to analyze costs, determine root causes of variances and understand trends and project forecasts.
Creates and maintains transparent reporting for PM group and creates action plans for achieving annual KPIs.
Analyzes and addresses needed adjustments in the PM workload based project counts and slotting, resource availability and geographic distribution.
Reviews change orders as submitted by the PM's for approval.
Participates in strategic and tactical planning sessions to align on business processes/protocols.
Works cross-functionally to implement and align strategies for the Store Delivery Process.
Verifies and approves bidders lists on all store construction projects
Ensures the timely review and approval of lease delivery requirements, landlord work letters and construction related lease terms, to ensure delivery requirements.
Assumes additional responsibilities and assists the VP of Construction with special projects/duties
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Interior Design or Engineering
10+ years' experience in Retail Construction Project Management
5+ years of Management experience in the Retail Construction Industry
Deep knowledge of retail construction and operational procedures, interfaces and plan development requirements.
Extensive knowledge of construction means, methods and materials
Fundamental knowledge of building design
Ability to read & interpret construction drawings
Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate construction requirements and plans across disciplines
Outstanding leadership, people & project management skills
Strategic thinker with strong business acumen
Excellent communication & relationship building skills
Ability to travel up to 50% of time
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite and other scheduling programs and project management systems.
