The Intern will work directly under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer to complete an array of Roadway, Surface Transportation, Pedestrian/Bicycle Facility and Civil Site related design tasks. Individual responsibilities will include plan reviews, CADD modification of engineering drawings, and computations. Other duties include, but are not limited to, project background research, utilization of software to solve engineering problems, technical report preparation, and construction cost estimating. The candidate will be a dependable worker willing to work on a diversity of site and/or roadway projects, with varied interest and the ability to successfully multi-task. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Make edits and updates to existing engineering drawings and projects
Coordinate new small-scale projects and/or tasks
Assemble data and research
Assist with administrative duties
Provide input on solutions to problems using basic theories and engineering fundamentals
Assist with layout and design of routine small and medium-sized engineering projects
Develop and prepare word and excel documents
Maintain accurate and current project documentation

Dean's list and/or GPA 3.0 or above
Coursework in related field
Construction or other Civil related experience
Previous internship experience
Experience with MicroStation, AutoCAD, InRoads or OpenRoads
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional mobility within the office. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25lbs) may be required as needed.
