The Manager of Accounting, Accounts Receivable and Sales Audit is responsible for the daily operations of the Accounts Receivable and Sales Audit Accounting areas, oversees accounting staff, monitors, and analyzes accounting data to ensure adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Responsible for ensuring all accounts receivable for stores, catering and off premise as well as the sales audit accounting efforts are complete and reconciled.
Responsibility
- Manages, develops, and maintains staff for day-to-day supervision and leadership in order to ensure that deadlines, organization and departmental objectives and standards are met.
- Oversees the departmental responsibilities for monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing of accounting records and financial statements in order to meet required deadlines, and ensure accuracy of financial statements and provide financial statements. Interprets and applies generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to accounting systems and records.
- Leads development of monthly accounting reporting for areas assigned, including presentations to senior-level management as needed.
- Works in a project management capacity or active team member with other departments in developing, enhancing, and implementing accounting processes related to business initiatives ensuring compliance with GAAP.
- Works directly with Off Premise and Catering teams to provide accounting support, guidance, and reporting as needed. Also partners with Operations and Loss Prevention regarding sales-related accounting matters and when suspect activity is identified in daily reconciliations.
- Review general ledger, balance sheet and income statement schedules and required journal entries prepared by accounting staff for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintains and oversees accounting procedures and processes, as well as making recommendations for improvements.
- Identifies business issues that may have accounting implications and communicate and involve the appropriate corporate function. Includes review of contracts.
- Leads audit activities with internal and external auditors for assigned areas.
Qualifications
Experience and Education
- Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting or finance
- 4-7 years' experience in accounting or finance
- 1-2 years supervisory experience preferred and/or project management experience and corporate accounting department experience
- Accounts Receivable experience
Certifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred but not required
Knowledge and Skills
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Ability to manage employees while multi-tasking projects.
- Knowledge of all aspects of general accounting including financial statement presentation
- Strong computer skills; Experience in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of accounting systems functions and reporting tools.
