Description
This is a Maintenance Section position in support of the Department of State (DOS) Vanguard Contract. The IT Maintenance & Repair Technician is responsible for equipment bench test, troubleshoot, repair, validate reported digital equipment problems, and provide information and communications technology (ICT) equipment end-of-life procedures.
Description of Duties:
Interface and coordinate with the Maintenance Team for ICT equipment troubleshooting and repair.
Provide responsive troubleshooting remediation support to post on defective ICT equipment to resolve reported issues using manufacturer manuals and/or the support of vendor's troubleshooting instructions via telephone or emails.
Inspect, diagnose, and validate returned ICT equipment problems and coordinate with Maintenance Help Desk Specialist for warranty equipment repair.
Perform and record testing, troubleshoot, activity, and results using DOS REMEDY system.
Repair out-of-warranty ICT equipment as required .
Provide accurate and physical ICT equipment accountability during the process of repair/disposal.
Perform ICT equipment decommissioning and disposal in accordance with DOS policies and procedures.
Perform in-house storage media sanitization in accordance with DOS policies and procedures.
Perform other maintenance related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
High School/GED with five (5) years of experience; Associates and three (3) years.
Hands on experience with IT equipment repair.
Ability to follow policies and procedures. Experience with policies regarding decommissioning and disposal of equipment is highly preferred.
Knowledge of help desk ticketing systems.
Ability to track and manage equipment through the repair process.
Knowledge of networking and telecommunication equipment.
Prior experience dealing with and contacting equipment vendors for repair items.
Ability to multi task in a high paced environment.
Demonstrates strong work and professional ethics.
Strong team player.
Required Clearance
US Citizenship.
Active secret clearance with the ability to obtain a top secret clearance.
