Reporting to the Executive Director, the Vice President (VP) of Development is responsible for leading, managing, inspiring, and executing the Miami-Dade core fundraising and impact campaigns.

Responsibilities

As the Vice President of Development, you will be responsible for:

  • Work alongside the Executive Director on key donor relationships, not only stewarding them, but also strategizing on how to deepen impact in time, talent, and treasure.

  • Work alongside Executive Director on mid to large company prospecting, sales process, and onboarding. This will include assisting with Top 25 Prospect List management and first class service when bringing a new company into the Miami-Dade market.

  • Have the principal responsibility of securely positioning the Market for aggressive growth in unrestricted revenue on an increasing and sustainable basis through building a dynamic development team and volunteer leadership talent and capabilities.

  • Operationalizing the vision, management of staff, and implementation of strategic priorities, and volunteer and employee engagement plans

  • Achieving financial targets while leading multiple revenue channels.

  • Driving new business development and growing the number of new partnerships supporting the work of the American Heart Association.

  • Growing overall market revenue by implementing organizationally identified best practices.

  • Will aggressively work with two direct reports and development staff on new company growth and development, both in revenue and leadership engagement/recruitment.

  • Foster a professional work environment that promotes and values collaboration, trust, teamwork, empowerment, professionalism, and diversity where communication is open, staff celebrates each other's successes, and conflicts are identified and quickly resolved.

  • Work with Executive Director and direct reports to maintain a minimum of three years of -transformational- Chairs for Heart Challenge campaign and build volunteer leadership engagement across the market.

  • Partner with Southeast Region and National American Heart Association resources to provide management expertise, coaching, and monitoring for fundraising events to ensure the aggressive growth of events and focused year-round attention by monitoring internal reports and management of development staff.

  • Participating in community and corporate functions that will provide networking and visibility opportunities to facilitate generating new business contacts.

  • Travel within the market is required for donor and partner meetings. Travel to office in Hollywood, FL for team meetings.

Qualifications

  • University/College degree or equivalent experience, preferred

  • 5 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or equivalent type experience

  • Experience in building effective teams of staff and volunteers

  • Demonstrated track record of setting, achieving, and exceeding aggressive goals on a sustainable basis

  • Demonstrated track record of influencing others to action through communicating a shared vision

  • Ability to establish and execute strategic plans in a highly dynamic, fast paced environment

  • Ability to communicate vision to a team

  • Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication, including large and small group presentations, group facilitation, and writing clear, concise reports and evaluation.

  • Ability to lift and/or move large objects (such as boxes) with the expectation that heavier items would be broken down into smaller components or requesting additional assistance may be required before lifting and/or moving

  • Bilingual proficiency (written and verbal) in English and Spanish is preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
