JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Sr. Data Governance Analyst, you will play a key role in CarMax's Data Governance organization. This position will be responsible for measuring, monitoring, and improving the quality of our critical Customer data assets. In this role, you will collaborate with Business, IT and Architecture resources to perform two primary roles:
Data Governance - Enable IT and Business owners of critical Customer data systems and data usages to adhere to CarMax data quality and data governance policy
Data Stewardship - Define and implement Data Stewardship services for our primary Customer enterprise data platforms

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with IT, Architecture and Business leaders to:
Promote, prioritize, and evolve business processes, policies, and standards that promote governance through the Customer data lifecycle (end-to-end).
Champion the management and proficiency of Customer master data across the enterprise.
Participate in the strategy, design, implementation, and maintenance of data governance to ensure data integrity and standardization of Customer data across the enterprise.
Proactively identify, prioritize and remediate data quality issues in the Customer MDM systems through the construction of data quality monitoring checks and reporting
Generate and manage metadata and lineage for Critical datasets and usages
Develop and lead Customer data usage training
Perform periodic assessments to measure data governance progress, success and maturity.
Evaluate, analyze, and assess/report on customer data quality across the enterprise. Provide recommendations to improve Customer data health across systems.
Understand how Customer data quality changes over different system implementations, digging in deeper to teams' artifacts as needed.
Provide teams direction and leadership to develop and deploy data quality guardrails and processes across the organization. Influence tech debt across different systems to ensure maintenance and improvement of Customer data quality.
Document and inventory internal and external data processes for enterprise reference as it relates to the Customer data domain. Document lineage across those systems, and how the data is used in different systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
5+ years of experience supporting Data Governance, Data Management, and/or Data Quality initiatives
5+ years of experience using data quality and visualization tools (Informatica, Tableau)
Passionate about data quality and data governance
Demonstrates a solid understanding of data quality concepts and practices, such as data profiling and creating/maintaining metadata
Knowledge of SQL and ability to perform complex querying
Expertise in database technologies (NO-SQL, Relational)
Experience operating in an Agile and Product development environment
Ability to investigate a hypothesis and present root cause analysis recommendations based on quantifiable metrics
Ability to collaborate and influence senior leaders across organization boundaries
Ability to tie quality metrics to business value and key performance metrics
Demonstrates a high level of autonomy
Demonstrates a high level of persistence in pursuing complex data anomaly investigations and championing long tail solutions
Bachelor's degree (preferably in STEM field)
