We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical R&D Product Cost Controller to join our finance team. As R&D Product Cost Controller, you will play a pivotal role in monitoring and managing product costs throughout their lifecycle, ensuring financial efficiency and supporting informed decision-making. This position requires a keen attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. You will be responsible for accurately estimating and analyzing the cost of SI EA power distribution products, ensuring competitiveness and profitability in the market. This position is a hybrid role based in San Leandro, CA.

You'll make an impact as you:

  • Calculate manufacturing costs for power distribution products including switchgear, circuit breakers, outdoor products and related components.

  • Cost Analysis: Conduct comprehensive analysis of product costs, including material costs, labor costs, overhead, transportation expenses.

  • Cost Management: Monitor and control product costs to ensure alignment with budgeted targets and profitability goals on regular base and ad hoc for big projects. For new developments and released products / components.

  • Variance Analysis: Identify and analyze variances between budgeted and actual costs, investigating root causes and recommending corrective actions as needed.

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare regular reports on product cost performance, providing insights and recommendations to management and stakeholders.

  • Cost Estimation: Collaborate with product development teams to estimate and forecast costs for new products or product enhancements.

  • Process Improvement: Implement cost control procedures and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize product costing processes.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, procurement, manufacturing, finance, engineering and sales teams to ensure accurate cost data and validate cost assumptions and facilitate effective decision-making. Participate in cost vale engineering / DTC workshop / continuous improvement efforts. provide current cost structure and work in a cross functional team for cost improvement solutions

You'll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or equivalent.

  • Experienced leader with a proven track record, strong commercial background, and 5+ years managing a P&L and Balance Sheets

  • Ability to make data-driven recommendations based on root cause analysis and alternative solutions.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Excellent presentation skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to various audiences, from small executive meetings to large public speaking events.

  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Collaborative team player with a proven ability to motivate and develop others.

  • Strong proficiency in ERP (SAP) and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense, etc.)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and prioritize key business issues and develop practical solutions.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a desire to build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization.

  • Must be physically in the East Bay (CA) Office 3+ days a week, up to 5% travel

  • The pay range for this position is $154.140 - $264,240 plus this role is incentive eligible. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
