We are looking to fill a Vice President of Development in West Palm Beach, FL. The Vice President will be responsible for managing a dynamic fundraising team, as well as collaborating with corporate and community leaders to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of fundraising efforts. Accountable for revenue generation and community development activities. In addition, will be responsible for managing top corporate accounts, identifying, and recruiting volunteer leadership, and holding volunteer leaders and staff accountable to their fundraising goals and objectives. This position reports to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage staff to reach established goals, while leading an overall strategy for fundraising, managing timelines, and holding staff accountable for key fundraising campaigns - Palm Beach Heart Walk, Palm Beach Heart Ball and Go Red For Women Luncheon.

  • Operationalizing the vision, management of staff, and implementation of strategic priorities, and volunteer and employee engagement plans.

  • Owning the overall strategy for successful fundraising, adherence to prescribed timelines, best practices, and staff accountability.

  • Recruiting and leading C-suite level volunteers and volunteer leadership committees to implement and successfully complete assigned revenue goals and activities.

  • Engage top employers, Fortune 1000 companies, and major medical institutions in strategic partnerships with the American Heart Association.

  • Achieve Best Practices in volunteer recruitment i.e., committee structure in place 18 months prior to the event, secure three-year commitments of Event Chairs for each event.

  • Achieving financial targets while handling multiple revenue channels.

  • Driving new business development and growing the number of new partnerships supporting the work of the American Heart Association.

  • Develop and manage key strategies for individual giving and donor engagement to include but not limited to Cor Vitae Society, the American Heart Association's annual philanthropic giving society.

  • Preparing the operating budget for the region and ensuring expenditures are reasonable.

  • Growing overall market revenue by implementing organizationally identified standard processes.

  • In partnership with Executive Director identify and engage potential national corporate partners and top philanthropists in relationship with the American Heart Association.

  • Participating in community and corporate functions that will provide networking and visibility opportunities to facilitate generating new business contacts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • At least 5 years of experience in non-profit fundraising and/or outside sales.

  • 3-5 years of experience leading executive-level volunteers.

  • At least 1 year of managerial experience preferably with fundraising staff in a similar organization.

  • Knowledge and skills in fundraising principles, practices, and techniques.

  • Ability and experience recruiting, training, and encouraging top-level donors and volunteers.

  • Excellent listening skills, including verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, negotiating, problem-solving and decision-making.

  • Highly effective organizational skills, time management, responsibility, leadership, and motivation.

  • Ability to work outside of standard hours which may involve some evenings and/or weekends.

  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout assigned geographical territory.

  • Ability to do daily local travel up to 75%; requires access to reliable transportation at all times on an immediate basis.
