Position summary: Responsible for engineering traffic studies using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. Acts as a technical advisor to less experienced engineers.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope
Perform future volume development and conduct traffic analysis utilizing traffic software such as HCS and Synchro
Conduct safety evaluations and crash assessments
Develop solutions to mitigate traffic deficiencies
Assist in the preparation of conceptual layouts depicting recommended improvements
Prepare technical memorandums and reports associated with large and medium scale traffic studies
Independently perform Traffic Impact Studies and develop mitigation scenarios
Manage project sub-consultants and in-house support disciplines
Develop extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals
Prepare proposals as required
Attend meetings with clients
Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality

Required SkillsRequired Experience
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program
5-10 years' experience in specialized discipline
Proficient in traffic analysis software such as HCS and Synchro
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Familiar with Highway Capacity Manual and ITE Trip Generation Manual
Written and communication skills
Qualifications Preferred
Professional Engineer License
Experience working with local clients at the state level
Familiar with MUTCD, AASHTO, and Highway Safety Manual
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
