Job Description

Title: CATGRY & SPACE PRODUCTIVITY ANALYST Location: United States-Virginia-Virginia Beach Job Number: 220003S4 Job Summary: Performs in the capacity of an assistant to the Senior Category & Space Productivity Analyst. Researches industry best practices regarding efforts to maximize SKU and assortment mixes, and works with designated Merchandising personnel to review and where applicable coordinate implementation of recommended changes. Duties and Responsibilities: - Utilizes space productivity metrics and principals to maximize SKU and assortment mix, space/shelf allocation, sales and profits. Provides analysis to Buyers, Divisional Merchandise Manager and VP, General Merchandise Manager. - Leverages the understanding of customer segmentation and how it relates to assortment planning and the impact to the customers in- store experience to promote sales. - Assists the Senior Category and Space Productivity Analyst to ensure all target dates are met. - Reviews merchandise assortments by category to ensure capacity and profitability requirements are met and the assortments align with the category and company strategy. - Coordinates with the buying team to translate their strategic vision into store specific and prototypical merchandise plans within the assigned business area considering portfolio and SKU rationalization processes. - Directly impacts sales and space to sales performance through strategies to maximize SKU placement where appropriate. - Analyzes performance metrics and provides recommendations to the Senior Category and Space Productivity Analyst management that identify potential opportunities to improve productivity of space. - Monitors competitive and industry activities (including trends, fads, etc.) regarding merchandise presentation, in-store marketing, packaging and assortment; monitor the latest industry trends to continually improve the space planning systems and processes. Reviews best practices that can be incorporated into merchandise planning and presentation. - Develops and incorporates merchandise presentation standards in the creation and maintenance of all plan-o-grams. - Guides buyers in optimizing their in-line assortments to meet in store space allocation guidelines by utilizing item level performance, and space to sales analysis. - Works with the Senior Category and Space Productivity Analyst to develop winning strategies for the department and organization that are proactive. - Assists with reviewing merchandise strategies with buying team through discussion and participation in buying meetings, and in coordination with supervisor develops solutions and plans that address and resolve systemic issues. - Works under the supervision of the designated Manager. Operates independently within the framework of NEXCOM policies, procedures, and regulations. Exercises independent judgment and approach in routine and non-routine situations. Consults with supervisor on such issues as policy matters, deviations from normal procedures or unusual circumstances. Performance is evaluated on operational performance, skills evaluations, customer service, collaboration and teamwork, leadership and established individual performance objectives as well as accomplishment of predefined milestones outlined in development plan. Performs other related duties as assigned. The incumbent of this position must file a Financial Disclosure Report (OGE) Form 450, as required. Qualifications: Total of 6 years of experience consisting of the following: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 3 years general experience which was gained in administrative, professional technical or other responsible work which enabled applicant to gain a knowledge of retail and supply chain processes; skill in dealing with others in person-to-person work relationships; ability to exercise mature judgment. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: 1 year of education above the high school may be substituted for 9 months of experience, up to a maximum of a 4 year bachelors degree for 3 years of general experience. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 2 years progressive experience which provided background in: Inventory optimization utilizing GMROI and GMROF analysis Utilizing space productivity metrics Analyzing performance metrics Retail and Supply chain processes Job: Merchandising Systems
