VP, Live Events and Operations

At BCD, we produce live, virtual and hybrid events, as well as a range of dynamic content that our clients use across live and digital channels. We love what we do. We hustle. We have fun. We take our work seriously. But not ourselves.

At the center of our business is the beating heart of production - bringing a creative vision for an unforgettable experience to life using ideas, technology, equipment, planning and a whole lot more. The VP, Live Events and Operations plays one of the most critical roles in our business, leading the team that executes every one of our clients' live events and oversees the overall operations of our business. This person manages both production and technology leaders, as well as provides agency and thought leadership in both areas. They partner closely with our operations team to deliver both the infrastructure that keeps our agency running, and the infrastructure on which our clients' events are built.

The goal for this role is to bring BCD level operational excellence to the production business unit. This person also plays an important role in the growth, scaling and profitability of our business, helping protocols, processes and pricing that deliver strong financial results year after year. Significant progress can be made in the financial and operational management of this business unit, and this leader will be relied upon for their leadership in this area.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Finance

  • Co-own with the GM of Production and Content the P&L for this group

  • Co-own our budgeting process for the agency

  • Direct the operational financial processes like billing and invoicing

  • Direct Production and Content's pricing strategey

  • Evaluate current processes and implement new ones

  • Operations

  • Oversee all agency operations

  • Own and Improve the overall processes and systems in place to improve consistency, accountability and profitability

  • Find redundant tasks inside of the organization and pull them from their existing areas into operations (ie budgeting, scheduling of personell, etc)

  • Innovation and thought leadership

  • Help improve our processes as they relate to operations and finance.

  • Partner with the leadership team to create new customer offerings and capabilities

  • Dream big; help our team dream big; have fun; carry the spirit that is the -Creative- in

  • Live Event Produciton

  • Oversee the Production team, comprised of the Director of Live Events, Producers, and Production Managers who coordinate and manage pre-production for shows and events

  • Direct them as they manage and grow relationships with customers and suppliers

  • Develop systems and processes the streamline the consistent delivery of live events

  • Implement systems and processes to that improve profitability of this category

    SKILLS AND QUALITIES YOU'LL NEED

  • Flexible, easy-going attitude - culture fit for the creative production team

  • Strong ability not only to solve problems, but also to predict and prevent problems with solutions

  • Strong Financial Accumen

  • Strong background in developing new systems processes to drive efficiency and profitability

  • Reliable, consistent performance,

  • Has an education and/or profound experience and talent in a diverse set of operational roles

  • Willingness to learn new skills/fields including live event production, broadcast video systems and their practical application in live and virtual environments

  • Can travel easily for out-of-town work (we operate in a diverse and ever-expanding geographical market) - 25%

  • Operates well independently with a drive to set and attain goals independently

    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

    This is a one of the most critical across our organization. This person works closely the agency's senior leaders and helps maintain its healthy center of gravity.

  • It's peers are Executive Creative Director, Experience and Exectutive Creative Director Content
