SPACEPORT DESIGNER - TEMPORARY
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contribute to resolution of architectural design/engineering aspects in ongoing projects throughout all phases
Apply and maintain consistency in architectural documentation, technical specification, and internal/external communication
Develop/maintain drawing sets with internal and external teams
Innovate design/technical solutions to expedite construction schedule and retain capital
Administer architectural/technical quality assurance and quality control on all projects
Write, negotiate, and manage documentation or construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines
Interact with contractors, fabricators, owners and clients
Resolve design/technical conflicts in the field, in real time
Provide and architectural/technical information on all levels of project scope to ensure projects complies with standards, specifications or applicable codes
Attends/leads weekly project coordination meetings
Understand and maintain aesthetic direction on projects and execute architectural/technical design solutions
POSITION DETAILS:
LENGTH OF POSITION: 6 months, permanent hire conversion based on performance and business need
LOCATION: Brownsville, TX
SHIFT: 1st shift
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in architecture, architectural engineering, or other technical discipline
3+ years of design experience (interior, architectural, or technical)
2+ years of construction or building experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Proficient in Autodesk REVIT, AutoCAD, Rhinoceros, and Sketch up
Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
Primary experience in the field of architecture or architectural engineering
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of International Building Code (IBC)
Knowledge of processes of permitting agencies such as building departments, environmental agencies, or other comparable regulatory agencies
Basic knowledge of American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) steel manual, American Concrete Institute (ACI), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)
Proficient sketching ability and convey ideas visually/quickly
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire life safety, structural engineering, civil engineering and mechanical engineering disciplines
Understanding of materials, architectural and engineering tectonics
Experience with project management and construction process
Basic knowledge of Enscape or other rendering programs
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Ability to work under pressure and make independent judgments with limited information
Concise communication skills for conveying subjective or objective data (visually, verbally and in-writing)
Creative approach to solving problems
Comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time, and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic directions
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Perform hands-on work in all environments (heat, cold, rain), in tight quarters or at heights
Ability to work long hours and weekends as needed
Remain focused while working in hazardous environments, while wearing appropriate PPE
Ability to lift up to 50lbs unassisted highly preferred
