Description
SAIC is seeking a Space Communication Engineer to support the NRO Office of the GEOINT Chief Architect (OGCA). This is a Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support position to assist in defining the future GEOINT space architecture. The candidate will support and lead GEOINT space capability studies conducted by joint, multi-agency, multi-disciplinary Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). Qualified candidates must possess demonstrated space and ground communication development experience and be able to provide technical and programmatic insight on the wide variety of space and terrestrial communication system capabilities. The successful candidate will work both independently and in a team-based environment.
Key duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
. Participate in external, program office, and developer-sponsored forums (e.g., working groups, IPTs, and boards) to ensure GCA program office equities are protected.
. Assist with the execution of design trade studies. Evaluate system and architecture designs, as necessary, to determine if the design is adequate to meet performance requirements and is cost effective.
. Support acquisition planning activities and document preparation for Government review and approval.
Qualifications
. Experience leading high performance technical teams and demonstrated ability to simultaneously perform multiple tasks
. Understanding of the current and projected capabilities of space and terrestrial communication providers and their satellite and related ground systems
Experience analyzing commercial and military SATCOM systems
Systems engineering and requirements development experience with Satellite communications (SATCOM)
Ability to analyze Wideband and Narrowband SATCOM policy
Solid understanding of RF satellite hardware design
Familiarity with the Department of the Air Force organizations and agencies desired
Experience with satellite testing and on-orbit initialization desired
Experience modeling SATCOM throughput and latency, and resilience analysis desired
Proven technical expertise and communications skills that demonstrate the ability to interface with all levels
Demonstrated ability to conduct analysis and evaluations - making recommendations and providing professional advice and assistance to include preparing reports and presentation briefings
Ability to apply technical expertise and summarize information/findings for presentation to Government leadership
Skilled/comfortable working in high-tempo environment, able to be flexible and to adjust to dynamic political, technical and/or fiscal challenges
Required Education:
Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more of related experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience
Degree in Engineering (preferred); or Science, Space related field
