Utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision making skills, works independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. Provides health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. They may care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted in age-related category and area of expertise.

Education Qualifications:

NP: Master's degree in nursing

PA: Bachelor's degree in a health/science-related field

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

Dedicated to high-quality care and efficient teamwork, this position will further enhance our current team consisting of 5 General Surgeons and 3 APPs while offering the candidate the opportunity to develop and work in our sub-specialty clinics.

  • 1.0 FTE, full-time status

  • Mon-Fri 7a-5p

  • Ability to care for all ages as patients including Peds & Adults

  • 50% inpatient, 25% OR assist, 25% outpatient

  • Inpatient rounding daily Mon-Fri; provide back-up support to General Surgeon on call Mon-Fri; surgical assist at least 2 days per week

  • No call at this time

  • Surgical and Trauma experience preferred!

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is assigned to Surgical Services for the purpose of providing patient care under the supervision of the attending physician(s) in accordance with the rules, regulations, bylaws of the Medical Staff Office with the following responsibilities, including but not limited to: assisting in surgery. Independently delivering clinical services to patients within the services line within the limits of their privileges. Complies with Essentia Health standards, policies and procedures, contributes to customer satisfaction, participates in quality assurance improvement, supports and participates in team approach to the delivery of patient care within the department, service line and hospital. Fiscally responsible for the level of care prescribed/delivered and the appropriate utilization of resources. Demonstrates the successful judgment and ability to service appropriate unique needs of various patient populations and age groups.EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing or Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.

  • Surgical and Trauma experience preferred!

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in appropriate state (if NP).

  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in appropriate state.

  • Current certification in CPR

  • ATLS needed after hire

  • National certification, in applicable area.

  • Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.
