PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR, SEMICONDUCTORS (STARLINK)
SpaceX has developed a low latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. Enabled by a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, Starlink is providing fast, reliable internet to populations with little or no connectivity, including those in rural communities and places where existing services are too expensive or unreliable. We are looking for organized, creative, and driven leaders to lead development operations that aid in the production of satellites and network ground stations. As the Production Supervisor (semiconductors), you will manage a team of technicians and specialists while working closely with manufacturing and process engineers to support development projects which enable the design, build, and activation of new production lines and processes. This individual will be responsible for the execution of all integration & production operations for a newly constructed Pilot Production Line in Bastrop, Texas.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead a team of manufacturing specialists, technicians, and equipment maintenance professionals responsible for process development, product reliability, characterization, & qualification & production release of semiconductor advanced packages & flight rated hardware:
Oversees the prevention of workforce accidents and injuries. Responsible for ensuring and documenting that all department direct labor receive and follow appropriate training including Environmental, Health and Safety training. Implements, (emphasizes importance of) and monitors compliance to appropriate safety policies and procedures
Develop & mentor personnel to include training and career progression; oversee the performance evaluation process to include the individual employee selection, hiring, reward and progressive discipline processes.
Integrate Lean techniques to identify inefficiencies, makes recommendations and support/follow through on process improvements.
Analyze, measure and report on production related process performance issues to innovate new methodologies and improve throughput by refining procedures and mitigating risks associated with manufacturing operations.
Develops, leads, and executes daily production plans. Implements strategies to reduce cycle time, drive variable cost productivity, reduce Work in Process inventory level, improve quality, service, and safety.
Prioritize production schedules based on customer commitments, available manpower, equipment efficiency, tool capacity and material requirements.
Ensure timely response to operations issues impacting customer satisfaction; act as an interface in the establishment of plans ensuring conformance to quality & performance requirements; prepares detailed analysis of cost of quality opportunity and initiates corrective action.
Collaborates with process and technology leaders to drive continuous improvement programs, including product design for manufacturability, process module integration, process consolidation/standardization, and process/product performance variation reductions.
Interface with area leadership and prioritize work based on production schedule and organizational goals
Ensure product quality and conformance to specifications and coordinate the disposition of non-conforming product. Aid in investigations and root-cause analysis of any non-conformances
Act as technical decision maker and advisor to the team, making impactful strategic decisions that affect overall business outcome, driving:
Personnel training and development
Development and implementation of efficiency improvement projects through Kaizen Studies, Value Stream Mapping, Yamazumi Charting, & Spaghetti Diagrams
Root cause analysis (5Why, 8D, A3) and implementation of corresponding corrective action plans
Reduction of downtime or inefficiency in line operations affecting product or personnel.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing/testing environment in lieu of degree
1+ years of experience leading a team or project
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree
3+ years' experience managing production teams in a semiconductor back end cleanroom environment
Experience with New Product Integration/Introduction (NPI), Assembly & Test (A&T)
Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Failure Mode Effects Analysis
Experience preferred in fast-paced production environment with flight quality hardware
Six Sigma Certification (ASQ LSSGB/LSSBB)
Able to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast-paced work environment
Proficient with computers, the ability to use MS Office, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) Software, Power BI, and SQL
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed
Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
Must be able to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Production Supervisor: $105,000.00 - $135,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
