The Assistant Teacher will help maintain a safe and fun environment for children while assisting in developing creative and educational activities.

INDCN

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Must be a team builder, organized and possess excellent customer service/communication skills

Personal characteristics

  • Caring and compassionate attitude when interacting with and caring for children,

  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills to converse with children, fellow professional caregivers and parents or guardians

  • Excellent patience and stamina for keeping up with the demands of children of all ages

  • Advanced multitasking and organizational skills to handle multiple children at a time

  • Physical abilities- Must be able to bend, stoop, stand, and lift up to 25-40lbs daily

  • Provide instructional assistance such as but not limited to: facilitating learning centers; individual and small group instruction; facilitating and modeling play; assisting students with computers; and model good nutrition practices during meal/snack times

  • Plan and maintain a safe, clean, learning environment, and assures the well-being and safety of children in her/his care.

  • Establish a caring professional relationship and a climate of mutual trust and respect for families.

  • Maintain a cooperative attitude of working together with center staff, volunteers, parents, and program specialists in planning and implementing classroom activities

  • Timely and accurately completion of all paperwork, including parent/teacher conference forms, lesson plans, and transition forms

  • Assists in the preparation of materials needed for classroom instruction
