SPACE OPERATIONS NURSE - TEMPORARY POSITION
SpaceX is currently building the world's next human spaceflight capability. We're actively supporting a wide array of mission types, a few include revolutionizing access to Low Earth Orbit (LEO) with cargo and crewed Dragon missions, returning humans to the Moon by developing a Human Lander System (HLS) for NASA's Artemis program, and rapidly developing Starship, the first rocket and spacecraft designed to support crewed trips to Mars.
As a space operations nurse at SpaceX, you'll assist in COVID-19 program implementation, employee public health promotion, and other medical operations at SpaceX. You'll work under the supervision of the SpaceX medical team and assist with medical program development and planning. We are seeking excellent, team-oriented medical professionals who have a passion and interest in human spaceflight.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with SpaceX's COVID response to ensure the safety of employees and crewmembers while keeping operations running.
Manage COVID test administration and health data management for SpaceX employees.
Work with multidisciplinary teams to accomplish goals involving human spaceflight, public health, and occupational medicine involving SpaceX employees.
Participate in occupational health surveillance and public health improvement projects for various SpaceX sites.
POSITION DETAILS:
This is a temporary position with SpaceX, for the length of time as stated, and is subject to change with minimal notice as business needs dictate.
LENGTH OF POSITION: 9 months; part-time (20 hours per week, may flex up at times).
LOCATION: Hawthorne, CA.
SHIFT: 1st shift, normal business hours with some variability for launch activities.
Some travel to other SpaceX sites, specifically Cape Canaveral, FL and Boca Chica, TX, may be required.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Registered nurse.
Able to practice in the state of CA.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience with clinical testing for infectious disease.
Emergency room experience.
Interest in working with interdisciplinary teams to solve complex problems.
Able to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
Excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as technical writing proficiency.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Schedule flexibility is mandatory; long hours and weekend work may be necessary in certain situations.
Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral.
