CarMax Auto Finance, in Kennesaw, GA, provides simple, seamless, and competitive financing for CarMax customers offering convenient payment methods. The Consultant, Credit is critical to the company delivering that iconic customer experience by manually reviewing and decisioning customer credit applications that cannot be systematically decisioned. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement (partial remote and partial in office) and a shift differential is offered to associates working evening and weekend shifts!
What you will do
Approve, condition, or deny credit applications using prescribed criteria based on company policy and procedures. Accurately and timely communicate decisions to CarMax stores via company systems within company requirements
Escalates accounts that fall outside of company policy
Handle incoming calls from CarMax store associates and customers to educate, answer questions, and/or independently resolve issues regarding credit application status and decisions
Assist with the timely and accurate processing of customer alerts in compliance with company guidelines
Perform the above functions, as well as special projects as needed, within department metrics expectations and all State and Federal requirements
Use sound decision making skills in reviewing Credit Applications
The relationship between CarMax Auto Finance and the customer begins with the loan application process. Most applications are easily decisioned by cutting-edge, automatic system parameters - however, some may require special care and attention. That's where the Credit Consultant steps in. In this role, you will be entrusted with exercising your attention to detail and decision-making skills to review and verify these applications. Naturally, this role caters to those who thrive when given the chance to analyze and solve issues, doing so independently in a fast-paced, team-based environment. From verifying applications, to resolving customer issues, you will balance the needs of the customer with opportunities and risks of the business.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor's degree or minimum 1-2 years of applicable experience
Familiarity with credit bureau reporting and understanding of FICO scores
Strong attention to detail and sound judgement/independent decision-making ability
Exceptional communication skills - particularly in effectively influencing peers and business partners
Basic to moderate computer knowledge and proficiency, especially in MS Office Suite and financial systems
