SAIC is currently seeking a Joint Exercise Campaign Planner located on Camp Smith in Oahu, Hawaii to support the USINDOPACOM J715, Exercise Plans and Programs Branch to guide the persistent Joint Operational Planning Process (JOPP) in development and maintenance of a joint training and exercise campaign.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Support the J715 Branch Chief as the Planning Team Lead guiding a team of professionals in continual development and refinement of a campaign plan intended to integrate national and multinational objectives through joint training and exercises as part of Large Scale Global Exercise (LSGE) and the USINDOPACOM Campaign Plan.

  • Create, design, plan, and implement adaptive concepts to meet current and future challenges while ensuring unified action of planners from USINDOPACOM and subordinate service components, with other COCOMs and Joint Staff, with participating Allies, and with other supporting organizations in a dynamic and complex strategic environment

  • Create solutions to complex problems and apply operational art in an uncertain geostrategic security environment to design a campaign that will inform the multiple USINDOPACOM joint exercise Joint Event Life Cycles (JELC) nested as part of the LSGE framework.

  • Quickly and critically assess a situation, determine the essence of a problem, fashion a suitable response, and concisely communicate the conclusion in oral, written, and visual forms.

  • Maintain associated J71 exercise SharePoint sites

  • Leverage appropriate tools in support of the JELC such as Task Management System (TMS), Joint Training Information Management System (JTIMS), and other related databases and systems

  • International travel, as required, to support the planning and execution of designated exercises with foreign Allies and Partners

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors and fifteen (15) years experience; additional four (4) years of experience accepted in lieu of degree

  • Formal military training from a Senior Service College advanced planners course (e.g. Joint Advanced Warfighting School (JAWS), School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS), OR Department of Military Strategy, Planning, and Operations (DMSPOP) in order to demonstrate a mastery of the fundamentals of joint operations, operational art, operational design, and the relationship of operational art to strategy including firm knowledge of strategic context

  • Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) II or equivalent

  • Basic understanding of the Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) and associated requirements to both plan and execute Theater-level Command Post Exercises (CPX)

  • Experience researching complex military and geopolitical topics to enhance scenario design.

  • Ability to lead components in the planning and execution of JELC events, work plans, seminars, and war games

  • Experience with professional writing, to include proofreading and editing organizational directives, orders, policies, instructions, and technical documents

  • Must be able to travel ~10% of the time

REQUIRED CLEARANCE:

  • Must have an active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance

  • Must be a current US Citizen
