You will be a Sr NC Machine Operator with our team in Archbald, PA. Lockheed Martin's Archbald facility specializes in design, manufacturing, and engineering for both domestic and international customers. It produces electronic assemblies, machined and welded assemblies/parts, and safety-critical systems for various defense and commercial applications. The site is renowned for its awards and contributions to missile systems, nuclear instrumentation, and control products.

What You Will Be Doing

We are seeking an NC Machine Operator Sr. to support our team. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

- Follow instructions to machine, fabricate, or assemble parts to print and operation sheet specifications using CNC machines

- Interpret CAD data, prints and sketches regarding fabrication and follow written instructions

- Set up and operation of one or more computer numerical controlled machining centers for both horizontal and vertical machines. Performs such operations as drilling, milling, boring, & tapping, etc. on any/all types of work within the scope of the machine

- Verify NC code during execution of setup

- Perform secondary operations during machine cycle such as deburring and straightening

- Inspect parts prior to submission and as they are produced using standard gages, micrometers, indicators, vernier calipers, depth gages, and other measuring devices to ensure conformity to specifications

- Select and install proper cutting tools, zero in the machine to control and make other necessary setup adjustments

- Assist in providing feedback on prescribed processes, fixturing, and tooling to Manufacturing Engineers to ensure that off-line engineering is complete and optimize efficiency before online operations are performed

- Analyze machining results and performance targets with budgeted times and communicate shift targets for jobs to be run in production

- Maintain coolant levels and perform minor preventive maintenance to equipment

- Support a flexible work schedule supporting overtime, off-Fridays, weekends, and/or alternate shifts to support product schedules as required

- Physical condition allowing: lifting 50 pounds; standing, sitting, bending, and walking 10+ hours per day; and personal protective equipment including Steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and wearing a respirator when required

Basic Qualifications:

- 5 years, or equivalent experience/combined education, with additional specialized training in specific aspects of job functions and with demonstrated ability to meet production time standards with minimal defects

- Knowledge of basic shop math (metric conversion and arithmetic)

- Proficient in use of Measuring Equipment and able to verify conformance of machined work piece to specifications

- Proficient in reading and understanding complex mechanical blueprints

- Experience in selection and installation of proper cutting tools, and zeroing the machine to control, shaping and installing proper cutting instruments and selecting proper offsets to meet quality standards and make other necessary setup adjustments

- Must know M & G code to be able to edit & trouble shoot CNC program at machine

- Must know M & G code to be able to program a machine

- Experience working/machining steel, aluminum and stainless steel with knowledge of machining speeds and feeds required

Desired Skills:

- Experience in the development of, or redesign of, tooling and fixtures to improve quality or reduce costs

- Experience as CNC operator in multiple machine cellular manufacturing operation

- Proficient at Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

- Excellent knowledge of tooling and cutting condition calculations; know proper use and selection of different inserts, cutting tools and cutting tool geometries

- Excellent knowledge and application of GD&T

- Experience programming with GibbsCAM

- Experience with Solid Modeling

- Ability to perform complex calculations related to machining

- Knowledge of such tools as SAP, Command Media, Apriso, PAL, dPLM, Apriso, Microsoft Office

- Demonstrated experience in mentoring/teaching of junior machinists

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
